"Johnson?" Claire asked, making Mattheo's smile turn soft. She really was clueless when it came to quidditch.

"The new Gryffindor captain. Their team kind of...hates us."

"All the teams do, actually," Enzo added.

"They're going to have to get over that fast," Claire said, rising from her seat.

"Where are you going?" Matteo asked.

"We are going to get the other tryout schedules," she said, tilting her head toward the other tables in the great hall. "I need you to introduce me to the other captains."

"You haven't even eaten anything." Mattheo motioned at her empty, discarded plate.

"Right." Grabbing a piece of half-eaten toast from his plate, she took a bite. "Now I have. Are you coming?"

Mattheo stared at her lips for a moment, then at his toast in her hands. That was...hot.

"I think he's close to it," Theo said making Enzo chuckle.

"What?" Claire asked, completely oblivious of the effect of her casually eating after him had.

"Ignore them." Mattheo rose to stand beside her. "C'mon, let's get this over with so you can eat a proper breakfast."

Taking the toast from her hand, he tossed it back onto his plate. After brushing the breadcrumbs off his hands, he wrapped his hand around her wrist and led her to the Ravenclaw table. She followed him, and he internally smiled when she didn't immediately yank out of his grip. When they passed by Templeton at the Ravenclaw table, Mattheo relished him taking notice of him and Claire. That's right Templeton, she was his.

"Davies," Mattheo greeted, stopping behind the Ravenclaw captain.

Glancing up from his breakfast, Roger Davies' gaze traveled up and down Claire's body before he turned to Mattheo.

"What's up, Riddle?" He greeted Mattheo.

"When are you holding tryouts?" Mattheo asked, foregoing the introduction Claire had asked him for because after Roger looked at her like that he didn't want him to be on a first name basis with her.

"Wednesday at 5:00. Why?"

"We're covering the quidditch column for the paper this year," Claire said, pulling her wrist free from Mattheo's grip so she could write the date and time in her journal.

"Well, you're a right side better looking than Fisk was."

"Aw, thanks Davies, I'm flattered," Mattheo answered with a wink, making Claire giggle.

"That's all I needed," Claire said, closing her journal. That time it was her pulling on Mattheo's wrist as they walked away. The way Davies looked at her creeped her out and the less time they had to spend in his presence the better.

Claire skipped past the Hufflepuff table. She didn't need Mattheo to introduce her to the Hufflepuff captain. She may not know quidditch, but she knew most of her housemates. She'd already asked Zay when Hufflepuffs tryouts were after classes yesterday. Which meant they only had Gryffindor left.

"You might have better luck without me." Mattheo said as they neared the table on the opposite side of the hall. "Angelina Johnson is the girl with the dark hair sitting by the Weasley twins."

"No. You're coming with me. We're both working on this column so we're doing this together."

He quite liked the sound of that: together.

Silence fell as they walked past the table and Gryffindor heads turned to look at them. More specifically Mattheo. Slytherins and Gryffindors didn't voluntarily interact and when they did interact, it usually created drama. Needless to say, Johnson and the twins knew they were coming before they actually got to them.
