"Claire Bear!" The twins greeted her with matching smiles.
Mattheo glanced from them to Claire. He didn't like how familiar their greeting was.
"I told you not to call me that," she reminded them, but they ignored her.
"What are you doing with Mattheo?" Fred asked in a chiding tone, noticing him standing beside her.
"We're working on the quidditch column together. For the school paper. We just came to find out when the Gryffindor tryouts are," Mattheo said.
"That's classified information," George said at the same time Angelina gave them the time a day.
"Angelina!" Fred chided.
"Wood would never give team information to a Slytherin," George added.
"You two do know that we have to book the pitch for tryouts and practices and that's public information, don't you?" She asked like she was talking to a couple of first years.
"Why didn't you just look it up?" George asked Claire.
"Because we need to have the first article done in time for Monday's publication and I thought this would take less time, but I'm questioning that logic right now."
"Ah, come on love, just admit it's because you wanted to see us," Fred said with a wink.
Mattheo's stomach twisted at twins' flirting especially when they seemed close enough with Claire to have a bloody nickname for her.
"Alright, thanks for the information, but we've got breakfast to finish," Matteo said, eager to put as much space between Claire and the Weasleys as possible.
"Are you okay?" Claire asked as they neared the Slytherin table, struggling to keep up with his long strides. "You seem upset."
Glancing down at her, he gave a small, half smile and slowed down. "I'm fine. I'm just sometimes a moody ass. Something I'm working on."
"Food always helps me when I'm in a bad mood."
Sliding into their previous seats at the Slytherin table, that time Claire filled her plate with all her favorites: mostly pastries, but she did force herself to eat some eggs on toast for protein. Mattheo took note of her choices.
"So, the papers being published in just two days?" he asked, taking a sip from his goblet.
"The first issue is always a standard 'welcome back' one." There wasn't much preparation needed for it.
"Yeah, no offense, but the only thing worth reading in the first paper is Confidential Campus Confessions," Enzo said. "It's like a game trying to figure out who the different rumors might be about from the context clues and the code names."
Claire did her best to keep composed while Enzo talked about her article. One of the hardest parts about writing it was trying to act natural and not completely obvious whenever anyone brought it up to her or around her. She'd been asked multiple times if she knew who wrote it since she worked on the paper. She'd almost mastered a nonchalant response to it. Almost.
"A little offense taken," she said.
"I'll read your article once the matches start," Enzo assured her. At least he was honest.
"Do you want to write our first article after breakfast?" Mattheo asked.
"Since it's just schedules I can just whip something up for the first issue." She didn't need to worry about quidditch rules or terminology this time.
"No, you said we're doing this together, so that includes writing the article." Honestly, he didn't give a damn about the article he just wanted to spend more time with her.
"You're right. We can write and format the article tomorrow in the newspaper room."
"Not today?" He asked, trying not to sound desperate for her time when he was.
"I have other work I need to do today." Namely she needed to finish her first campus confidential article, which wasn't even half written yet. "Which I should probably get started on."
Mattheo watched her leave, his eyes admittedly drifting down to the daises embroidered on the back right pocket of her jean shorts. Because he watched her leave, he couldn't help noticing Fred and George following her out of the hall a few moments later.
"Is it just me or are the Weasley twins following Claire?" Mattheo asked Theo and Enzo. They looked up in time to catch the second twin slip through the doors.
"It's definitely suspicious they left shortly after her." Enzo said
"Maybe your girl is kinkier than we think," Theo suggested with a smirk. Mattheo threw his toast at him, but it only made Theo chuckle.
"Is this the one Claire took a bite of?" He asked.
"Don't even think about it," Mattheo said, but it was too late. Theo bit where Claire had.
"Is that a hint of strawberry lip gloss I'm tasting?" Theo asked, making Mattheo's eyes darken. "Easy, I'm just kidding. Save your wrath for the Weasley twins. They're the ones following your girl."
