"Milk? Tea? Coffee? Or chocolate milk?" She asked, pulling out two raw eggs from the fridge.

"Coffee," I answered.

She nodded, but her eyes shot back to the pan when she saw the pancake.

"Great," she sighed, tossing the pancake straight into the trash. "I give up. That's the third one I've ruined today."

"Don't you know how to cook it?" I asked, sitting down next to the cat.

"I'm still learning," she said, scratching the back of her head. "It seems easy, but I keep messing it up. I wasted three eggs just trying to perfect the one on Jennie's plate." She pouted at the breakfast she'd made. "Now I'm going to try again for you. Hope it doesn't turn out badly."

For Jennie, huh?

"Or would you prefer something else for breakfast? I can try cooking something else." She began heating oil in the pan and cracking another egg into it, looking like a pro despite her earlier struggles.

"Lisa, I told you to order food," Jennie's voice came from the stairs. She appeared in a white Chanel shirt tucked into her fitted pants. By her outfit, I could tell she was heading somewhere.

"Jennie! Good morning!" Lisa's smile grew wide at the sight of Jennie, her attention shifting completely. I wasn't surprised when the egg she was cooking might end up in the trash. Again.

"I told you to order breakfast, Lisa. At least you didn't burn down the kitchen." Jennie's gaze shifted to me. "Good morning, Irene. I hope you slept well."

"Yeah, sorry for barging in."

"It's fine. Honestly, I'm more relieved since Jisoo texted me saying you'd sleep here instead. Your dorm's a bit far, and I can't stay long today. My manager called me in for something."

"Don't worry, I'm fine," I reassured her.

"Don't worry about Irene," Lisa cut in, grinning. "I'm already cooking her breakfast."

She pulled out a chair for Jennie. "Milk, eggs, and bread for breakfast. It's much healthier than if we had ordered."

Jennie looked proudly at her plate, and Lisa seemed even prouder of it. But before Jennie could take a bite, her phone rang, and she quickly stood up.

"Bye, I have to go, guys. It's important." She hugged me and then kissed Lisa on the cheek before rushing out.

I watched as Lisa's face fell, her eyes following Jennie as she left, not even touching the food she'd made.

"Oh my god, the egg!" Lisa rushed back to the pan, but her disappointment only grew. "Okay, I'm sorry. I don't think I can ever perfect a fried egg," she muttered, turning off the stove.

"You can. Just try again," I said, standing up and walking over to her.

"And the coffee!" she groaned, slapping her forehead in frustration as she turned off the coffee maker.

"I was just about to remind you about that," I said, making my way to the fridge to grab another egg.

"We'll just grab something outside. There's a coffee shop not far from here. I can drive us both, and maybe grab takeout for Jisoo and Chaeng too," she suggested, pouring the milk down the sink. She tossed the egg and bread she had prepared into the trash before I could even stop her.

I just stared at the perfectly cooked egg she had made, now sitting in the trash for only a moment. I knew she had worked hard on it, and yet she discarded it like it didn't matter.

"No."

"What?" she asked, confused.

"Cook," I said, handing her the eggs I had gotten. "Huh?"

"I want eggs for breakfast," I explained.

She stared at me, still not quite understanding. I got the feeling that Lisa doesn't cook often and probably only does it for Jennie. Jennie is special to her—I could see that in her eyes.

"Just cook something for me. I can wait."

"B-but—"

"Just cook. I'll eat it."

"What if it burns again?"

"I'll eat it."

"Not fried well?"

"I'll eat it."

"Are you that hungry, Irene?" she asked, unsure. "Honestly, I'm not confident in my cooking skills."

"I won't judge."

She paused for a moment, then started preparing the food.

"I'll try an omelette. Gotta impress you too." She winked, and I was caught off guard.

She seemed to immediately regret it, looking away quickly in embarrassment. I knew she probably did that with her members all the time, but it affected me more than I expected.

Thankfully, Lisa got busy with cooking, so she didn't notice me freezing for a moment. She started tapping on her phone, smiling widely as she looked at the screen. "Dad, can you give me step-by-step instructions on how to cook an omelette? I need detailed guidance."

My heart dropped when I heard that. The rest of their conversation was in English, which I didn't fully understand, but I was sure she mentioned my name.

Soon enough, she finished the dish, but it didn't look quite right.

"Dad says it doesn't look how it's supposed to. But just try it, and if it tastes bad, we'll just order breakfast," she said.

Good or bad, I was going to eat it all. After watching her struggle to perfect it, I couldn't not appreciate the effort. Lisa wasn't that bad after all.
