LISA

We sprinted through the mall, and when I spotted a fire exit, I pulled Irene inside. She was breathing heavily as she took off her cap and used it to fan herself.

"This is a trap. We should—"

"Hey, calm down a bit," I hushed, noticing she looked like she was ready to sprint again. "Take off your jacket. Leave it here. The fans already know what you look like. If you ditch it, we can get out of here faster."

"Okay," she muttered, pulling it off. Even in her black shirt, she looked like a goddess. Her pale skin made her look even more stunning, and I couldn't help but admire her. She looked so effortlessly beautiful—just like a goddess. She really was.

She grabbed my hand, which was completely unnecessary, but honestly, my confused self couldn't bring myself to say no. I felt a blush creep up as I awkwardly followed her.

"Let's just take the stairs," she suggested. I looked up and noticed there was a long staircase down. We were on the third floor, so it wasn't too far to reach the ground. "It's an emergency, anyway. I think they won't mind."

I nodded and led the way, feeling like I was her assistant, but honestly, I didn't mind.

"Why did you even come here in the first place? You should be with your manager," I suddenly asked. I couldn't stay quiet when it felt like we were actually starting to connect.

"Because you're here."

"Oh?"

I felt my mouth go dry, realizing what she meant. I decided it was probably better to just stay quiet.

"Irene, we should jump. It's not that high, but can you do it?" I pointed to the five-foot drop we needed to make. It seemed simple on my side, but I was worried for her. I didn't think Irene was the type to do this often.

I jumped down and landed on my feet without a hitch. "Your turn," I called up to her.

She looked a bit nervous but was gearing up to do it anyway, which made me smile as I watched her prepare.

"On three, Irene. One... two..."

She jumped!

"Oh my God! Are you okay?" I rushed over, pulling her up after she landed on her knees. The fabric of her pants was thin, and I knew the rough landing must have hurt.

"I'm okay, it's fine," she chuckled, brushing herself off. "Bad landing."

"Why would you even jump like that?" I couldn't help but reason. She always got into trouble when she was with me, and it made me feel guilty. Now I could see she was hurt, and I hated it.

"I'm old, Lisa. What do you expect? Running and then jumping," she argued.

"You should've told me. I could've caught you."

"You couldn't," she laughed.

"Well, at least it would have been less of a hit."

Irene shook her head, patting my back. "I'm okay, Lisa. It's not that bad." It wasn't that bad, but I could see her limping.

"Hey, hop on my back."

"Huh?"

"Piggyback. We'll find a taxi soon."

She hesitated for a second, but I gently put her arms around my neck, causing her to fall onto my back. "Hold tight, ma'am," I joked.

She stayed quiet, and I wished I could see her face, but finding a taxi was the priority now. I needed to get her somewhere we could check her knees and put some first aid on them. Even if it was just a scratch, I felt responsible. I might need to apologize to her manager or members.
