In my room at the dorms, I felt the hardness of the punching bag against my knuckles. My arms were twinging from the aches of weightlifting, yet my workout wasn't over. Thankfully, my phone rang, giving me reprieve from my assault on the sandbag. All Might? What did this clown want at 8 O'clock at night?
"Good evening, L/N. Are you alone?" I held the phone against my ear using my shoulder, as I removed my gloves.
"Yeah... What do you want?" My voice was laced with venom. The last thing I needed in my life was my former coworker and major-league asshole.
"It's a sensitive matter. Would you be able to meet at the police station in 30 minutes? And make sure to tell the others that you are coming to meet me at the police station. Really play up how much you hate me." I sighed, dabbing away my sweat with a towel.
"Don't need to play it up. See you then, Ass Might." I heard a dry chuckle through the phone.
"See you then."
The car journey was short, and slightly more smooth- my driving was slowly improving with every trip. I entered the police station, a bright building with chatter coming out of the doors, a stark contrast to the darkness and stillness of the night sky. I flashed my hero license, making my way past the officers.
"Ah, L/N. Good to see you again." Detective Tsukauchi greeted me. A friend of Aizawa's and All Might's. He was sat at his desk, showing some papers to All Might, who was leaning over to look.
"Good to see you too. So, what did you want to see me about?" Tsukauchi stood up with a sigh, stretching out his back- the job had aged him considerably, and he showed it in his body and face.
"Let's talk somewhere more private." He walked off, beckoning me to follow him. A familiar path to the interrogation rooms. We sat down, All Might leant against the wall as Tsukauchi locked the doors. And, turned off the CCTV?
"No cameras? Are you about to finally try to beat my ass, All Might?" I gave him a sickly-sweet smile, folding my arms. All Might found no amusement in my joke.
"No, uh, 'ass-beatings' tonight. We wanted to talk to you about the League of Villains." I shifted in the seat uncomfortably.
"Oh, those people. What about them?" Tsukauchi opened his file.
"I understand that Dabi offered to give you your quirk back if you joined them. We were thinking..." He trailed off, looking at All Might.
"That you could go undercover." My mouth hung open slightly, my eyebrows raised. Undercover?
"The problem is, if any other hero suddenly turned to villainy, they would be wary. You are one of the only people who can do this, because you have a reason to join them- to get your quirk back, and for hating All Might. And, you have the added benefit of having done so much undercover work." I nodded. I could actually get my quirk back? Although, that would require some shady dealings. But he was right, this assignment would be a walk in the park. I was no stranger to undercover missions.
"So, you go in there, get your quirk back, and find out their next plans. As well as try to find out where Stain is, seeing as you have an arrangement with Endeavour." This was shit scary. Go straight into the lion's den with nothing more than my knife?
"How long will this be? And what do I tell everyone? And I recently fostered a student, Hitoshi, what about him?"
"At least a week, minimum. Shinso will temporarily be in Eraser's care until you're back. We need to keep this operation only with the people in this room, and Principal Nezu. That is it. There is a leak somewhere in UA, and until we root them out, this is strictly confidential." I took a deep breath. It sounded like I didn't really have a choice in the matter. I mean, I did want my quirk back, but Hitoshi has only just gotten settled in at UA.
