Heeey! (I may or may not have ruined my streak of sticking to my schedule, but we're not going to talk about that...I'm sick. There's my excuse) So a while ago -- like Chapter 11 -- I randomly threw out that I'm publishing a book....and then we never talked about it ever again. So today is that day!!
You can now get my book "Attack of the Magus Lords" by Fallon Jacobson, on Amazon (ebook and paperback available). The book is about a young boy named Will who is fighting for his life in a mythical war with Magus Lords--aliens from another galaxy armed with wands and the desire to find a legendary race rumored to live on Earth. The link will be on my page if you're interested (or you can just search for it on Amazon).
Now without further ado, BACK TO CATHRYN!
Cathryn let out a pained squeal, but it was completely silenced by Bonnie's hand, still clutching her entire head unbearably tight. She kicked at his knees blindly, but all the heels of her tennis shoes found was unidentifiable metal. The most she could tell was she was hanging off the ground.
"Bonnie!" she pleaded noiselessly. He was going to mash her brain.
Bonnie shushed her, the robotic shriek directly in her ear and making her wish he would put her out of her misery as her head flared.
"You messed everything up, Kitty," his quiet voice was even, as if he didn't notice her desperate clawing at his hand. "You're in big trouble now."
It was the fact that he only sounded partially amused that broke through the screaming in her skull and made Cathryn worry about something other than when she might take in her next breath of air. Her form drooped for a moment, and she thought she felt the toe of her shoe brush against the floor.
Then Bonnie's grip somehow got tighter, and she felt them move back in a direction she swore was away from the front door. She had no idea what the plan was, besides giving her the most unmerciful death she could imagine – being suffocated, squeezed, and snapped in half, all while rupturing her poor stomach. If they were still close to the desk where Cathryn assumed they were, there wasn't much more than a cramped corner. What was Bonnie doing?
The weighted sound of animatronic footsteps flooded their area as Cathryn was on the brink of puking. The heavy sound matched the pulse of her irregular heart in her ears. After a week of being the night guard, she recognized Freddy instantly.
Cathryn flailed against her captor in a desperate attempt to live, and what's more, to regain her eyesight. Because if the other animatronics were running around, it had to mean her shift had begun, and she did not want to be blind and outside of her office. Come to think of it, why were any of them moving before 12 am? Questions, questions, but first she had to escape the rabbit's hold.
The footsteps stopped, and Cathryn could once again hear the vibration of parts working inside Bonnie as he began readjusting his position to press her arms down. His, "Shhh. Shhh," in her ear seemed weirdly rushed, but at least the sound was bearable this time.
Bonnie's grip was solid. She'd thrown her whole body against his arms, and it still felt like he hadn't budged.
In the stillness, Cathryn had finally decided to give herself up and pass out when some of the pressure in her head released and Bonnie's new hand placement freed her nose. She gratefully breathed air, not even bothered by the fact that it was stale and disgusting. She was going to live!
The rabbit stayed frozen with her locked in place long enough Cathryn grew sore. She eventually heard the loud footsteps drifting off into the distance and hoped that'd be enough to convince Bonnie to move. It was not.
She tried another hard kick at his leg, missed, and struck air. A swift knee from Bonnie to the back of her calf later, and Cathryn stopped struggling.
Her body throbbing at the top and the bottom, and her confusion attempting to be a numbing balm, Cathryn relented herself to her thoughts as she tried to blank out the feel of robot on every side. Bonnie's inner-workings even sounded similar to the soft humming of her car, which only fed the illusion that she was somewhere else. Another time, another place, where she was safe and making smart choices with her life.
