Manoramaa sucked in some air, and then she took a look at the envelope her sweaty left hand was gripping tightly. The very next second her gaze darted back to the door right in front of her.
She rotated the doorknob, pushed the door, and entered inside, closing it behind her.
Karim and Gurung looked on as the young woman steadily made her way towards the patriarch's workspace.
"Boss." One quick bow later, she placed the envelope she was carrying before the Dogra patriarch.
Mahadevan's head tilted slightly as he picked up the envelope, while she slowly took three steps back, standing straight, with her arms held behind her back at ease. "My leave application," she began, "from 1700 hours on May 29, 2023, to 1700 hours on June 9, 2023—11 days."
Mahadevan examined her visage for a second, exchanging glances with Karim after that. "Any reason?" he probed, pressing the official stamp on top of the envelope without even opening it to check its contents.
She licked her lips, "It's something regarding Tejas Bhai." Then she bowed her head again, "I can't explain anything more than this."
The patriarch continued to survey her with a sharp pair of eyes, glanced at the envelope, and said, "Alright. Sanctioned."
