Abeokuta

Meet The Abdul Razaq's who live in a town named Ayetoro in Abeokuta.

A very small nucleated family of five, Mr and Mrs Abdul Razaq, and their three children, all girls. Hafsah, Jameelah and Mazeedah.

Their bungalow is located in one of the new sites there, a place from which life has been snatched after the demise of the owner, Mr. Abdul Razaq who died a death of no cause, so unnatural.

Mrs. Abdul Razaq had accepted her fate with yaqeen, conviction and rather than being depressed over her  husband's death, she concentrated on training her children instead, and to the best of her ability.

Jameelah was most affected by her father's loss, the least she expected was losing her father at such a very young age of 16. She finds it hard to believe even till this moment and everytime she remembers her father's death, she burst into tears. She was the closet to him among her siblings and was his favorite.

More reason why she chose to study Medicine and Surgery in Higher Institution. She wants to know what could have caused her father's death, it couldn't have been sudden.

Though, as a Muslim she believed his time was already reached, hence, but there could have been more reason, she thought.

Three years so far in medical school and she's been able to point out that a lot of things could have actually gone wrong and if she really wanted to probe further, an autopsy was what could have been requested for then but now that it's late, she had to accept whatever it was.

She wished she could have had this medical knowledge then, maybe she could have saved her father but Qadarllah wa Masha faal.

Jameelah sat on her bed after offering the Duha prayers and doing a little dhikr. She has a lot on her mind and she just kept sighing, deeply.

She had just returned from her university the previous day though the school was yet to give them holiday for the Eid celebration but trust her to find her way home whenever it's Eid celebrations time.

Lagos isn't far from Ogun State and she couldn't just be any less grateful to Allah for choosing to study in the University of Lagos.

Though she's just got into 4th year and there's really a lot to do, no holidays but she's lucky they haven't started any hospital postings yet and she wouldn't mind skipping a few classes. After all only 75 percent of recorded attendance was needed. It's not possible she attends all classes.

On getting home, there wasn't any traces of Eid preparation, no ram as usual, no foodstuffs and she doesn't even have new clothes and shoes for the festival. Subhanallah, her case is really pathetic.

She stepped out of her room into the sitting room and looked at her mom and siblings rearranging the sitting room. That was the only sign of Eid that could be seen in their house.

"Jameelah Ki lo ṣe ẹ (What's wrong with you)? Why the frown on your face?" Her mother asked and dropped the curtain she was fixing on the window.

"Mom Eid is in two days, and we haven't gotten any animal for our Qurbani yet. Looks like we're not gonna have any celebrations in our house this year. First time ever since we've been living here" She broke down completely and her sisters watched her helplessly.

"You this girl likes worrying too much. This is still two days to Eid. Anything can happen, we shouldn't lose hope in the mercy of Allah" Her mother explained to her and she just sighed.

"That's what mummy will be saying. Me I'll just go out and celebrate Eid at my friends place, you guys should sort yourselves out" Mazeedah said and Jameelah scoffed.
