There was a pause between the group. Everyone was busy with their thoughts as they considered Parkinson's remarks.
Then, with his hand resting on his cheek, Nott let out a longing sigh, "But I'll admit... The school does seem a bit— dull without her. She'd always greeted me every time we passed by and now that she's gone, I sorta miss it. Just a tiny bit."
"You fancy her, Nott?" Parkinson teased, a wide smirk playing on her lips.
"I SAID, JUST A TINY BIT!" He hissed.
However, Draco had long stopped listening to their conversation as he was deep into his thoughts. All the sounds in the background had turned into muffled noises in his ears.
He couldn't shake off the worried feeling that was twisting in his chest, the anxiety creeping in from the thought that Y/N got attacked and potentially got hurt. He couldn't even imagine what her last moments were before she got petrified. Was she scared, did she suffer as one had suspected?
The more he thought about her, the stronger he had the urge to visit her, to see her condition for himself. That was the only way to put his worries to rest. Draco couldn't explain why he had to see her— but he just knew that he had to.
So when class was over and it was their lunch break, Draco left the classroom as quickly as it finished and bolted towards the Hospital Wing. He didn't even wait for Crabbe and Goyle to finish packing before leaving them without any explanation.
Draco strided with his shoulders swaying from side to side. Usually, he would walk around Hogwarts like he owns the place. However, at that moment, it was different. His steps were more urgent and solemn, his expression unreadable.
He entered the Hospital Wing, and his eyes immediately looked for Y/N's bed.
"Mr Malfoy, you mustn't be here!" Madam Pomfrey hastily walked over to him, pulling her skirt up as she did so. "Students aren't allowed to visit."
"Says who?" Draco retorted.
"Says me, the matron." She said sternly.
"Well, if you don't let me through, I will tell my father about this." His voice was laced with malice. "I'll let you know that he's a governor and has quite the influence around Hogwarts. He could easily strip you of your place if I so please."
"Mr Malfoy," Madam Pomfrey raised her voice with cold fury in her eyes. "Such threats do not work on me, you should know not to abuse your father's name to get what you want. And if he does manage to remove me from Hogwarts, there would be no one to tend to the student's welfare, parents would get upset, and your father might receive backlash for the unnecessary removal of the school's matron. Is that what you want for your father, hm?"
Draco just stayed silent.
"Precisely," She nodded. "Now, please, move along."
"I can't," Draco muttered.
"And why is that?"
"I need to see a student. Her name is Serene Willow. I heard she got petrified."
Madam Pomfrey looked at him, suspicious of his intentions. "And what business do you have to ask of her?
Draco was irritated by her scepticism, but he tried to stay patient, albeit barely. "She's a friend of mine," He said stiffly. "I have to see her..."
"I'm afraid that's not possible, Mr Malfoy. With the circumstances of the school, all students are prohibited from visiting the petrified victims to prevent— the wrong sort of people from coming in." She hinted, her expression remaining serious.
