A Secret Uncovered

The group of four was getting close to the entrance of the lab when Emily heard something.
„Did you hear that?" She whispered as she jerked her head back
„What?" Daniel asked
„Maybe it was some animal or something." Agatha proposed
„Maybe." Emily said
„We're almost there anyway." Daniel stated
It however was not an animal. It was a human, Simons sister, more specifically.
The four of them walked up to the cement entrance on the ground and Daniel grabbed it.

„Wouldn't that be to heavy to lift?" Alice asked
„I don't know, it should be." Olivia said
„I doubt he'll lift it on his own." Alice remarked

Daniel grabbed the handle with his hand and pulled it out of the ground, forgetting that it was on hinges. The cement door swung in Simons and Emily's direction. Simon put his arm on Emilys shoulder as she covered her head. He put his other hand against his own head and squatted down as he pushed Emily to the ground with him. The door flew above them and landed in between two trees behind them.
„Jesus." Agatha remarked loudly
„OH FUCK. I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" Daniel asked
„Yeah, fine." Simon responded as he helped Emily get up
„Jesus, my life flashed before my eyes." Emily said, as she realised she was still holding on to Simons arm. She let go and walked up to the opening in the ground.
„Ladies first." Daniel stated as Emily climbed down the metal ladder. Agatha went down after her and Simon after her. Daniel tried to close the door behind them, but that didn't really work out. The girls jumped down onto the floor first, they looked around and saw Maddison, sitting on the counter, sipping on coffee.
  „Haven't seen you in a while." Maddison said
  „Likewise." Agatha stated as Daniel jumped down the ladder
  „I broke your concrete door thing." Daniel remarked
  „Oh." Maddison responded in a condescending tone
  „Yeah, sorry." Daniel said
„Okay, well that just great. Anyway sit down, any incidents over the past week?" Maddison asked as they sat on the work top. Emily and Agatha sat on one side and the boys sat on the other.
„Not really, no." Agatha stated
„Me neither." Daniel said
„Okay." Maddison responded, she looked at Emily who was looking at Simon like she was trying to get him to speak.
„What?" Maddison asked
„Nothing." Simon remarked
Emily looked back at him and scrunched her nose and eyebrows. He smiled at her in response.
„You two planning something?" Agatha asked
„I swear to god Simon." Emily said frustrated
„It's not important." Simon replied
„I think she can decide that for herself." Emily remarked
„Yeah, I can. What happened?" Maddison asked
„He puked up a ton of blood." Emily stated
„What?" Maddison asked surprised
  „It wasn't puke, it was just, thick blood." Simon remarked
  „That's worse." Maddison said
Simon hissed through his teeth not knowing what to say.
  „Okay well, if it happens again let me know, and if it doesn't then it's going to have to wait because I have no idea what to do with that."  Maddison stated
  „You have no idea about a lot." Daniel remarked
  „I know, that's why in about a week, maybe two, we are going on a road trip."
  „Where and why?" Emily asked
  „To Greenbay in Wisconsin and because another team of people with powers lives over there and we are going to meet up with them."
  „Who?" Daniel asked
  „I'll show you. There's this thing with profiles on people like you." Maddison said
  „That's not creepy at all." Simon stated sarcastically
Something popped up on the screen and Maddison started reading it.
„Okay, so, this is Nick Ryder." She turned the screen, since a picture of him showed up next to his information. He was pale and had light brown hair with hints of red in it.
„Looking like Nick Nelson." Agatha remarked
„Who's that?" Simon responded
„This dude from a tv show." Agatha stated
„Okay."
A picture of a boy with dark brown hair and dark blue eyes appeared on the screen next.
„This is James Myers, his powers are very different from yours since he has more mental and mind shit than you do." Maddison said
„Great." Daniel responded
The image on the computer switched again. A green eyed girl appeared, she had long, straight, black hair.
„She kind of looks like you." Daniel said as he turned his head to Simon
„She does." Agatha stated
„The fuck are you talking about, no she doesn't." Simon stated
„Whatever you say." Daniel said as he smiled
„That is Eliza Parker." Maddison laughed at the bickering going on behind her and she moved on to the next girl.
  „And this is Lia Brown."
She had dark blonde wavy, hair and brown eyes.
„These all look like mug shots." Emily noticed
„Yeah." Agatha said in agreement
„That's just how they take the pictures. And this is Mark Thomas." Maddison stated
„Is he the one without powers?" Daniel asked
„Yes."
„Was your idea to tell us their names and show as a picture?" Simon asked as he got up and started walking around
„No actually. Here." She turned the screen further and switched the page to FaceTime. Mark, James, Eliza and Lia were on the call on mute. Maddison unmuted herself.
„Okay, so Mark and I have decided that we are going to drive to Wisconsin and meet up with them."
„Yeah." Mark confirmed
„Isn't there supposed to be four of you?" James asked
Daniel looked up and saw Simon on the other side of the room eating an apple.
„We could ask the same thing." Daniel stated
„Nick's changing a lightbulb." Lia stated
„That is such a random thing to do." Emily remarked
„Simon is, eating an apple?" Daniel started
„Where did you find that?"
„It was over there." He pointed
„That was mine." Maddison said, disappointed
„Anyway, why are you changing lightbulbs?" Agatha asked
„We're in a wear house." Lia stated
„Oh, well we're in an post explosion laboratory." Agatha remarked
Simon sat down next to Emily but he did not in fact get more then five seconds of silence.
Alice fell through the entrance in the ceiling and screamed. Simon got incredibly startled and shot fire at her but Alice dodged it by squatting.
„JESUS FUCK." Agatha shouted while Emily screamed in reaction. A big water jug that was stood next to them exploded in reaction to Emily screaming. Agatha covered her head and Daniel covered Agatha. Three glasses blew over and shattered on the floor, the computer blew over in the wind Agatha was creating. Olivia dropped down next to Alice. A moment of silence occurred due to the fact that there was water and glass everywhere and the pile of cardboard boxes was on fire.
„WHAT THE FUCK?!?" Simon remarked loudly
„Good question." Daniel said sarcastically
The seven of them looked around at each other in shock.
„What was that!" Alice said more than asked
„Um. Well. Fuck." Simon stated
„AND who's this?!" She pointed at Maddison
„That's..." Simon tried to explain
„And WHY are you all so quiet? Help him for gods sake!" Alice remarked at Emily, Daniel and Agatha with some hope that they would explain what just happened.
„Okay, so. Magic. Kind of." Emily remarked
„What?" Alice slightly shook her head
„It's science." Maddison stated
„There is no fucking way that all of this is science." Emily said
„Okay, so basically. We can do magic shit. He can do it with fire, she can with air and he can with earth." Emily remarked
„Wonderfull. I live with some supernatural freak." Alice stated
„Can we go?" Olivia asked
„Yes." Alice turned around as Olivia started climbing out.
„Don't tell anyone!" Emily shouted as they were almost gone
„That was eventful." Daniel remarked
„I told you that nobody could find out about this entire thing. Jesus." Maddison said frustrated and using a lot of hand movements
The five of them sat there in silence processing what had happened. Simon thought about the conversation he would have to endure with his sister. Emily thought about her mom for some unknown reason. Daniel and Agatha were sat together in a corner of the room. Maddison was thinking about the endless possibilities of what could await them in the near future. The kids walked home after half an hour and Maddison cleaned up after them.
She sat down in her bed wondering what she had gotten herself into. She thought about how she would have to endure the countless days ahead of her that she would have to spend with four utterly clueless teenagers and the fact that she would do all this alone.
