"Come in," she said, stepping aside and cutting him off.

His eyes looked up from the floor, his eyelids opening a bit. He stepped into her apartment, taking off his shoes. He awkwardly shut the door behind him. His eyes wandered around the apartment as Tsuki shuffled backward, smiling.

"Nice place," he said, clearing his throat.

She looked at his neck and shoulders. "He's gotten so much stronger," she thought, admiring his physique. She smiled at him. "Thank you."

"Am I intruding?" he stammered, his eyebrows curling in concern, "I—I just didn't—"

"It's okay," she said, shaking her head, her hair whipping around her, "it was a needed break."

He looked relieved. "I have so much to apologize for—" he said shyly, grabbing his face, "so much has changed since last year I—"

"Do you want to come see Mom with me this year?"

His lip quivered before he nodded. "Yeah."

She smiled. "You have nothing to apologize for."

"I have been doing a lot of thinking," he began, "and the school sent a few of us to therapy after the fight with All for One ..." His voice trailed off, reminiscing, "I've learned a lot about ... how wrong my actions have been." He laughed, looking at her, "I—I finally understand what you've meant all these years."

"You being your worst enemy?" she offered.

He nodded, shyly smiling, "Yeah."

"I'm glad," she paused, gesturing for him to follow her into the kitchen, "I can tell you're different. Your eyes— I don't know, you're just different. I can feel it."

He laughed, his face taking on a light shade of red. "I have so much to say to you." He clapped his hands together. "I want to do this right ... this time."

Tsuki giggled, holding the side of her face. "Katsuki," she said, smiling at him, "what did he mean?"

"I'm—" He took a deep breath and dropped his head. "I'm so sorry," he said. He looked up at her, "I didn't mean to leave you like that—after my fight with Akai and then with Shiragraki ..." He looked at his open palm and shut it tightly.

Tsuki's brows curled together. "No, why is he apologizing again?" she wondered, feeling the urge to step toward him in an embrace.

He lifted his head and looked her in the eyes, his tongue poking at his cheek, "I was so unsure of so much." He sucked in air between his teeth, his heartbeat increasing, "I—I still am, but ..." He took a step toward her with slight hesitation, "but you ..." He tilted his head, clenching his teeth, "you're the only thing I'm actually sure of." His eyelids dropped slightly, giving her a look of immense longing.

"What are you trying to say?" she asked, her voice delicately filling the room. She stepped closer, raising her head to maintain eye contact, "did he get taller too?"

"Tsuki Akai," he said carefully, his bottom lip shaking for a moment. He grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer and placing the palm of her hand on his heart. "Can you—forgive me—forgive me for leaving and give me another chance to be with you, properly?"

Tsuki's face softened completely. "Nothing was wrong in the first place—" Her lips formed a small smile. "I didn't think you left ... I know that you have your life and your dreams—I couldn't take that from you, or hold you back, or be the reason things didn't work out." She struggled to shift her gaze from his lips to his eyes.

He nudged out his chin as if trying to bring his face nearer to hers. "I thought I told you I didn't want to hear that crap from you." He exhaled through his nose with a small laugh, "you moron. I'm the one who's apologizing."

"Then I forgive you," she said, blinking lovingly at him, "and I'll forgive you always."

He smiled at her. "So is that a yes?" he said after a long pause. "Are you saying we can try again?"

She laughed and smiled at him; suddenly, they were mere inches apart. "Of course," she replied.

The squeeze on her hand sent a nerve through her body. He stepped back and held her left hand in his before using his other to dig in his pocket. He slid a small gold band onto her ring finger and lifted her hand to his lips, where he kissed her knuckles.

"This is a promise," he said shyly, meeting her gaze, "a promise that I will do this right; that I'm better."

THE END.
