Fifty years.

Shadow had lost fifty years to the void of unconsciousness, preserved in cold, clinical stasis within the depths of a G.U.N. research facility. Fifty years trapped in an endless sleep, unaware of time's cruel passage, unaware that the world had moved on without him.

When he awoke, his mind was a blur of fractured memories—Maria's desperate plea for him to live, the chaos of the ARK's destruction, and Y/N's terrified face as she disappeared into the darkness. It was as if his very existence had been severed mid-sentence, his purpose stolen before he could fulfill it.

Then came the rage.

He tore through the facility like a force of nature, shattering steel, crushing walls, and reducing G.U.N.'s defenses to nothing but rubble. The soldiers and scientists inside had no chance. They weren't the ones who had taken everything from him—not the ones who had ripped Maria away, not the ones who had let Y/N vanish into the abyss—but they wore the same uniform, stood under the same banner. That was enough.

They deserved his wrath.

G.U.N. scrambled to contain him, deploying mechanized units, sealing off entire wings of the base, but it was all futile. Shadow was chaos incarnate, his fury unchecked, his power absolute. The halls of the facility echoed with alarms, with the screams of those who dared to stand in his way.

And yet, as much as he destroyed, as much vengeance as he unleashed, none of it filled the emptiness inside him

None of it brought Maria back. None of it gave him answers about Y/N.

His destruction of the facility was not just revenge—it was a desperate search. If G.U.N. had kept him locked away for fifty years, who was to say they hadn't done the same to her? He tore through every lab, every data center, looking for some mention of her, some sign that she had survived. But there was nothing. No files, no logs, not even a whisper of her existence.

It was as if she had never been there at all.

He refused to accept that.

For months, he remained on Earth, sifting through the wreckage of G.U.N.'s bases, tracking down old operatives, forcing answers from those who had been even remotely involved with Project Shadow. It didn't matter how many missions they had been on since, or how old they were now—if they had worked with G.U.N. during the ARK's downfall, he wanted to know everything they did.

Most of them didn't even know Y/N existed. The few who did only had vague recollections of her. A child, another subject, a casualty. A shadow in the background of a tragedy that had long since been buried.

Shadow searched anyway.

If he had survived, if he had been found drifting in space, then why not her? If there was even the slightest chance that she had escaped, then she had to be somewhere. And if she had somehow made it to Earth, like he had, then he would find her.
