Nikki

We get to Cody's house and Becca pulls up right after. We're walking inside when a car pulls up. Cody pushes us behind him as we cautiously wait to see who steps out of the car. Abby steps out. She locks the car and comes over to us.

"Thank fuck. We need your help." Cody said.

"Wow. Another pretty boy needs my help."

"I'm getting the impression you're insecure." Cody says.

Becca backhands him in the stomach.

"It's okay, Becca. He's right."

"I'm sorry, Ab. I didn't mean it that way."

"Yeah, you were always one of the nice ones. You put gum in Cassie's hair in 7th grade."

Cody laughs. "She deserved it."

Abby smiles.

"So, how can I help?" She asks, rubbing her hands together.

Cody gestures to her to come inside with us. We all sit down in the living room and we all explain to her what Jason said and Emil showing up. We were all a mess talking over one another trying to explain everything.

"Okay. So from what I gather, Ellie's spirit is with him and is telling him things."

"Yes." We all say in unison.

"And Jason said that Ellie's death wasn't a suicide."

"Yes." We all say again.

"Well. Since Jason's basically in a meditative state, we can't question him."

"So he's not catatonic?" Cody asks.

"No. Not really. His body was too relaxed according to what you guys are saying. He couldn't move but he was aware of his surroundings and what was going on."

"So he's not crazy." Cody says.

"No. I believe Ellie's spirit is with him. All the times he faced death, he was able to turn back around and come back to earth. That's Ellie's doing."

"So he can see the dead?" Becca asked.

"Just Ellie." Abby says.

"Can you?" Cody asks.

"Yes. And I can speak to them."

"So you're a medium?" Cody asks.

"Yes."

"So you're able to help?" He asks again.

"Once again, yes. I'll be able to communicate with her better if I had a personal item of hers."

Cody looks at Becca and then me.

"Nikki, don't kill me or Jay. He brought this to my house way before you because he wasn't ready to get rid of it yet." Cody says, nervously.

"I'm not." I say.

Cody gets up and ascends the stairs. He comes back down the stairs minutes later, holding a tshirt and a small bear.

"These were Ellie's."

I take the bear from his hand and study it. A small pink bear with a heart shaped nose. The tshirt Cody's holding has blood stains on it.

"Is that blood?" Becca asked.

"It's the shirt she wore the night she died," Cody says quietly.

Becca's lips part. I take the shirt from him too and smooth the wrinkles out of it. It had a scent of perfume on it, like coconuts and caramel.
