Children of the Force

"Denal." I immediately answered.

Anakin sprinted off the shuttle without another thought. Hearing him frantically call out for Ahsoka had me following after him, skidding down the ramp just in time to witness Ahsoka being kneed in the stomach harshly by whoever was wearing Denal's armour. There was something so dark about that. My jaw clenched as I ran towards Ahsoka, Anakin already sprinting past her and after, I would assume, Bane.

"You okay?" I asked, bobbing down at Ahsoka's side, helping her sit up.

"Yeah, just caught me by surprise." Ahsoka huffed out, making me smile at her softly.

The sound of engines starting up had me shooting back up to my feet, scanning the bays for the sign of a ship taking off. Anakin had clambered atop one, grabbing hold as it started to lift up. Outstretching my hand towards said ship, I focused on keeping it in the hangar, if it got out, who knows what could happen. I felt the Force wrap itself around the ship, holding it back but Bane merely picked up speed making me shift on the floor, boots scuffing as I brought my other hand up to help.

More power was added to the engine, my grip loosening all together as I let out a strangled breath, my arms falling uselessly to my sides. Anakin fell off from the unexpected movement, Bane soaring out of the shield's into open space, if he could get the ship locked into a hyperspace ring before he departed he'd be gone. We'd have no way to track him. I just hoped that Anakin knew that too.

Jogging up to the shield, I leant as far forward as I could, watching nervously as Bane's stolen ship maneuvered to latch a ring around him. He flew off into space and within seconds he was gone. The ship was no longer visible and I couldn't feel his presence in the system anymore. I sighed, lowering my head in defeat as my hands found my hips.

"It is most unfortunate Bane was allowed to escape again." Obi-Wan drawled out.

I sucked in a harsh breath, feeling incredibly responsible. Both times he was within my grasp, literally inches away from being detained and both times he'd slipped by me. Being berated in a council meeting by Obi-Wan, whether he knew exactly what he was saying or not, wasn't what I needed right now. I did that enough for myself.

"With access to the names and locations of the most Force-sensitive children in the Republic." Master Windu added on, another heavy sigh escaping me as I shifted in the center of the room, feeling all eyes on me.

"Inflict devastating damage on the Jedi Order, he could." Master Yoda chimed in.

We all knew this, why were we discussing this rather than what we needed to do about it? I was feeling particularly impatient, I just wanted to get Bane in custody yesterday. As soon as possible. Sitting around here wasn't going to solve anything. I could feel my Master's eyes land on me, but I quickly redirected my own away, knowing he knew how I was feeling. He always seemed to be able to.

"We've discovered Bane's working with the Separatists." Anakin brought up to the council members.

"There are thousands of children on that list." Obi-Wan mentioned as I shifted on my feet.

"Yes, but we need to determine which ones he wants." I spoke up for the first time since the meeting began. "How do we do that?"

"A small chance there is, through the Force the Council may detect them." Master Yoda told me.

Slowly I nodded my head, feeling better now that there was some form of a plan being discussed.
