"Yes, the clones and your people will be quite safe." Dr. Boll spoke up, her voice calm in hopes of quelling Doge's worries.
"Can it go wrong?" I asked, still not removing my eyes from the battlefield ahead.
"We have accounted for every probable outcome." She assured me in that same calming tone.
I let out a huff, lightly shaking my head. No one can account for every probable outcome. That's just a fact. You can't comprehend everything even with the help of droids.
"It's the improbable that concerns me, Doctor." My Master said beside me. I couldn't find it in me to smile, not at a time like this. "There must be other options."
"I'm afraid not." Chancellor Palpatine said. "This bomb is our only hope for victory now."
"The droids are on the move." Anakin announced.
I folded my arms over my stomach, reaching out through the Force, feeling everything on the plain below. But I felt one person more than anyone else. Rex. The red blaster fire lashed out, making my breathing grow shaky. Feeling that Rex was calm however, was almost enough to calm me as well, almost.
"We should be down there." I muttered, unable to keep myself from voicing my opinion. "Not standing up here watching." I gritted, the clones had begun firing back now, the vast land in front of the palace lighting up with the two contrasting colours.
"Being down there wouldn't change anything, I'm afraid." Chancellor Palpatine told me, that annoying diplomat tone evident in his voice that made me just want to spin around and punch him square in the nose.
The absent tapping of my boot against the balcony increased when several vulture droids took to the air. The clones below lighting up the stun tanks to take them down before they could get too far across the battlefield.
My whole body was beginning to twitch as I watched from above, unable to do anything about the casualties we were facing. I found myself glancing at Master Windu next to me, he seemed perfectly content, whether he was the same on the inside I couldn't quite work out. Rex's slight panic had my head snapping back towards the battle taking place, my breathing picking up.
"Tell the bombers to take off." Anakin called over comms, the signature beep accompanying his words.
Several ships were soon departing from the palace, heading to help those down on the front lines. We were losing them, they needed help. Nervously, I licked my lips, still tapping away on the balcony flooring.
The Separatist's tanks adjusted their aim, firing up at the oncoming fighters accompanying our bombers. Getting closer to the Separatist forces. The bombers were growing ever closer.
"Approaching drop zone." Goji called out.
"Remember, you've only got one shot at this." Anakin reminded him and his squadron.
"Bombs away." He declared.
I seemed to stop breathing when I saw the bombs being released, one final breath escaping me as everything seemed to go silent. All that I was focused on was those shells plummeting towards the earth and Rex.
Everything came back into focus when the bomb hit, a giant explosion illuminating the battlefield. I jolted, stuttering out a breath, I quickly glanced over my shoulder at Dr. Boll in pure concern, but she was too busy marveling at the creation she'd help make. I turned back, watching the plume of smoke funnel away from the initial site. Suddenly the orange ball of death vacuumed in on itself, transforming into a larger than life election field. The blue orb expanded outwards, passing over everything in its path.
