Zaina Aziz is the popular high school girl. She may have the charisma of a mean girl but breaking the stereotypes she is also an academic weapon. That is until the new, quiet boy, Aariz Sheikh takes her place. From there, it is a cut-throat competit...

I entered the private room of the West Club to find Zain Aziz calmly sitting there like he was here to crack a business deal.
Zaina's brother who'd rather set himself on fire than ever talk to me willingly. And now he wanted to meet? At midnight? Yeah, something was off.
"Sit."
One word. No greeting. Classic Zain.
I took the seat across from him. We didn't say anything for a long moment. Then he leaned in, elbows on the table, getting straight to the point, both the siblings were same. "Marry Zaina."
I choked on my breath. Zain hating me was normal. That was our equation. Him asking me to marry his sister did not fit in that equation. Seeing me quiet he continued.
"I saw what happened at the restaurant and I know there is something between you and Zaina. Last but not the least, those pictures were real." Of course he knew. The entire Aziz FBI squad probably did.
"She's making a mistake. She's not thinking straight. She's listening to our family, letting them drag her into this mess. And for what? Respect? Status? That bastard misjudged her, threatened her, disrespected her. She won't back out from marrying Farhad but I won't let my sister marry such a man." Zain explained.
"So you want me to marry her? Me out of everyone?" I asked again to confirm.
Zain exhaled, ran a hand through his hair, and then looked me straight in the eye.
"I'm not gonna lie-I hate your guts. But I'm not blind. I may not like you but my sister does. I wasn't actively present in her life for a long period and now that I'm finally back I'm not going to sit and watch her ruin her life trying to prove a point to you or anyone else, or-whatever the hell she's trying to do."
My breath hitched slightly. But I didn't say a word.
"So as her brother I'm putting forward this proposal in front of you. Marry her. Fix whatever mess you created in the first place. I don't care about your history with each other. I only care about her future." My history with her? He had no clue about my history with her. He only assumed our history started from his wedding.
My jaw clenched at the thought. I had finally moved on from Zaina. But now, once again life was throwing me right back there.
She broke my heart once. She'd do it again. If I married her, any hopes of a normal future would be diminished. But after the recent scandal, I did what any half-decent man would've done-I asked her to marry me. Tried to fix things. Tried to do right by her. I took responsibility for something which wasn't even my fault.
If taking responsibility means protecting her, even from herself- then yeah, I'll do it. Not for her. But because if I didn't step up I wouldn't be able to face myself.
