Break (All Might x Reader)

The streets of Japan were filled with people hurrying on by, everyone having places to be. Y/N stared from the doors of UA, watching as her classmates ran to their parents, who had been called and informed of the situation. While they were never told exactly who caused it, they were told how serious the occurrence was. The girl felt her throat close up as tears formed once more, the guilt of everything she had caused consuming her. She watched as her classmates had different reactions to their fussing parents, some annoyed, some crying, some gripping their mothers for dear life...Y/N faced the floor as a single tear dripped from her eye, her mother nowhere in sight. But it was a good thing she wasn't, as she wasn't in the mood to hear about the lecture of how y/n should have been more careful.

She became startled as a hand gripped her shoulder gently, making her flinch for a second before she looked at the person who had touched her. Glassy e/c eyes met gentle blue ones, without saying anything, he showed understanding. Though y/n was quick to toughen up, stopping her tears instantly and hiding her weakness, it was embarrassing that he had to see. Quick to look away, she watched as her classmates started to leave with their parents, in much better spirits than they were before.

"Where are your parents?" Y/N asked softly, her throat slightly injured from the asthma attack her quirk had almost caused.

"I don't have any, they passed away...Villain attack..." All Might admitted, his hands clenching a little bit at a memory still too fresh and painful to think about for long.

"I'm... sorry to hear that." Y/N replied, unsure of what to say. She wasn't like her mother, who always had rehearsed and calculated lines ready to go at a moment's notice. Speaking of which, it seemed as though she wouldn't be showing up. Which was both a relief and not a relief at the same time.

"It's okay, there's nothing to be done about it. That's why I am here, to become the symbol who prevents similar things happening to others." He explained, his voice firm with dedication and commitment.

"You speak so heroically." Y/N let out a short laugh, the optimism of her classmate becoming contagious.

"I'll take that as a compliment. I am going to do everything I can to make sure no more families have to suffer like mine did." His words were clear in the now empty entrance to the school, the faint sound of birds being the only thing to otherwise make noise. "No family deserves to break in such a way." He declared, his words firm.

Break. His words stung, but he didn't mean it. Y/N knew that he probably wasn't thinking of the fact that her quirk was named "Break." But it still hurt. It hurt because she couldn't deny the negative her quirk brought. Break. When was that word every used in a positive manner? Maybe she was more suited to the villain lifestyle...A light, twisted smirk crawled onto her face. Wouldn't it be fun to accept and become the disappointment that everyone wanted her to be? To see her mother as devastated as she had made y/n when she tore the family apart, there was something about it that had an appeal. Besides, with such a severe lack of control, what use was she if she couldn't just... destroy everything? But that was wrong. A small part of her spoke up, making her realise exactly how messed up her thoughts were. Her eyes began to well again as she remembered the most important thing, she really was a disappointment. Why couldn't she control her quirk?

"Hey, y/n? You in there?" His reassuring voice broke her out of her thoughts, ones that she realised where concerning to think. It was too late however, as tears slipped out, hitting the ground as her shoulders began to shake. "What's wrong?" All Might questioned in a slight panic, moving to stand in front of the shorter girl and leaning to get a closer look at her eyes.
