The night was calm, the hum of the city outside barely disturbing the silence of the apartment. Taehyung had been waiting for hours, his mind on edge as he watched the clock. Y-N had gone to sleep an hour ago, and now was his chance.
He slipped through the door with practiced ease, making sure to keep his movements as quiet as possible. The apartment was dark, only the soft glow of streetlights outside casting faint shadows on the walls.
He moved to the corner where the suitcase was hidden. He could feel the weight of it, the secrets it carried, pressing down on his chest as he stood over it. The moment was brief but intense, the tension hanging thick in the air.
With one smooth motion, Taehyung knelt down, his fingers brushing the edge of the suitcase. He opened it quietly, checking its contents just as his boss had ordered. It was all there, exactly as it should be. Nothing had been disturbed.
He closed it carefully, ensuring the latch clicked back into place with a soft snap. His job was done.
Without a sound, he stepped back into the shadows, disappearing as easily as he had come. The apartment remained undisturbed, and Y-N remained unaware, still deep in her sleep.
No one would ever know.
The next morning, Taehyung was back in his car, the weight of his task still heavy in his chest. He was parked near a small coffee shop, staring at the phone in his hand as the message came through.
“Take the suitcase. Leave the city. Now.”
His boss’s message was brief but to the point. The words hit Taehyung like a punch to the gut. Leave the city? Now?
He didn’t hesitate. His mind flashed back to the suitcase, to everything that had led him here. His job had always been complicated, but this… this was different. Something was changing.
Just as he prepared to drive, his phone rang. His boss again.
“Taehyung,” the voice on the other end said, voice low and commanding. “The police have started asking questions. You need to take that suitcase and leave. This situation is escalating faster than we thought.”
Taehyung’s grip on the phone tightened. He didn’t need to ask more. The message was clear. Get out now.
Y-N was lying on her couch, flipping through her phone absentmindedly when the doorbell rang. She wasn’t expecting anyone. But the second she opened it, her heart skipped a beat.
Two police officers stood outside, their faces stern.
“Miss Y/N?” one of them asked. “We’ve had some reports about unusual activity in your apartment. We need to check inside.”
Y-N’s mind raced, but she kept her expression neutral. She hadn’t done anything wrong, and she had nothing to hide. She was calm as ever. “Sure, officers. Is there something wrong?”
The officers exchanged a quick glance before stepping inside. The tension was thick as they began to inspect her apartment, checking closets, peeking under the furniture. Y-N tried to remain calm, playing the part.
“I was just having some friends over for a truth or dare night,” she said with a casual shrug. “I guess that’s what triggered the call. Everything’s fine.”
The officers didn’t seem entirely convinced, but they didn’t push further. “Alright, Miss Y/N. We’ll be on our way. But be aware, we’re keeping an eye on this place.”
They left as quickly as they had arrived, leaving Y-N to catch her breath. The moment the door clicked shut, she leaned back against it, her heart still racing.
