The sun never fully rose here.
It leaked through cracks in the blinds like it didn’t want to disturb the silence.
Y/N sat on the edge of the small bed, knees to her chest, eyes fixed on the wall. She hadn’t slept. She hadn’t even blinked much. Her mind wouldn’t slow down long enough to let exhaustion in.
She had spent the night replaying every moment that had led here.
The suitcase.
The kiss.
The lies.
Taehyung.
Her heart hurt in places she didn’t know existed.
She couldn’t stay here.
Not locked in a cabin. Not trapped with a man who’d become the face of every betrayal she’d ever survived.

Taehyung was in the kitchen, arms folded on the counter, watching the monitor linked to the perimeter cameras.
Everything was quiet.
But his chest wasn’t.
Y/N’s voice—last night, choked and broken—reverberated in his head on loop.
“You already did.”
He didn’t know what he was doing anymore.
All his training. All his mission discipline. None of it had prepared him for the feeling of seeing her look at him like that.
Like he was just another lock.
Another lie.
Another danger.
And now, as he stared at her door, part of him wanted to knock. To sit on the floor outside her room like a man who wasn’t full of secrets.
But he couldn’t do that.
Because he wasn’t here to be forgiven.
He was here to keep her alive.

Y/N heard the soft click of his boots moving down the hall.
Then silence.
She counted slowly in her head. Ten. Twenty. Thirty.
And then she moved.

She didn’t run. Not yet.
She slipped the window open behind the dresser, hands trembling.
The wind was cold. The drop wasn’t high.
She didn’t think. She couldn’t afford to.
She dropped.
Hit the ground. Rolled. Got to her feet.
Her breath caught in her throat.
Run.
She made it six feet before a voice rang out from behind her.
“Y/N.”
She froze.
The way her name left his mouth—it wasn’t angry.
It wasn’t even surprised.
It was tired.
Heartbreaking.
