He promised me a wedding invitation, saying, “I'll give you a wedding invitation as my wife.”
His words are etched in my mind as my heart jumps in glee.
Marriage was never in my mind, but if it was with him, I would gladly say, “I do.”
Dressed in white, a bouquet of flowers in my arms as I walk down the aisle
With our song in the background, you waiting in front of the altar
My tears would make a lake— no an ocean of tears, what-ifs, and what could have been
He sent me a wedding invitation but not me as the bride.
He fulfilled his promise but not to me, and it's enough for me to see— how he slowly reached his dreams while I gave up mine.
