They made it a full mile before the tracker blinked again.
Proximity: 100 meters. Fast approach.
“Split,” Taehyung said. “Circle back. I’ll draw them.”
“What? No!”
His voice was flat. “If they get both of us, it’s over.”
“I’m not leaving you—”
He shoved the suitcase at her. “Then trust me.”
She stared at him—breathing like she might shatter.
Then she nodded.
And ran.
---
Y/N
She ran until her lungs burned.

The suitcase was heavy—slamming into her leg with every stride—but she didn’t stop. Couldn’t stop.
Her ears rang with static panic. Her thoughts were noise.
Split. Circle back. I’ll draw them.
Taehyung’s voice played on a loop in her mind.
What if he didn’t come back?
What if this was the last time?
What if—
What if it was already too late? She stumbled, tripped on a root, and fell hard—hands scraping across wet leaves and frozen mud. The suitcase thudded beside her.
She stayed down for a second.
Just one second.
Breathing in the dirt. Shaking.
Then she got up.
Because she had no choice.
Because if she didn’t move—
She’d die here.
---
Taehyung
He didn’t have to wait long.
The trees parted with a whisper, and the shadow stepped out like it belonged to the forest itself.
Tall. Precise. Dressed in black with no insignia. But Taehyung knew the gait.
The tilt of the chin.
The way the fingers curled near the trigger.
Jinwoo.
They stopped five feet apart.
Silence pressed between them like a blade.
“Ghost,” the man said.
Taehyung didn’t blink. “You’re late.”
Jinwoo smiled without warmth. “Didn’t think you’d make it this far.”
“Didn’t think you’d be the one they sent.”
Jinwoo’s hand dropped to the pistol at his side. Not raised. Just waiting.
“They’re calling you a liability,” he said. “You hesitated. Delayed the extraction. You let her live.”
“She’s not the threat they think she is.”
“She’s the leak.”
“She’s a civilian.”
“You sound like one of them now.”
Taehyung’s jaw flexed. “And what are you?”
Jinwoo’s smile faded. “What I’ve always been. Loyal.”
A beat.
Then—
“You know what I have to do.”
Taehyung nodded. “So do I.”
And for the first time in years, the man known as Ghost raised his weapon not in defense—
—but in warning.
---
Back in the woods, Y/N crouched behind a fallen tree, the suitcase gripped to her chest.
A rustle snapped to her right.
Her breath froze.
Then—
A figure emerged from the trees.
And it wasn’t Taehyung.
