Returning to the Resistance (Various! x OC/Reader)

"So, you're telling me there's a more dangerous threat than Metal Sonic?" Eclipse asked.

"I'm afraid so. I feel like our victory was just sheer luck. There's something else." Zero said.

"We'll be able to figure this out. Hopefully, soon." Gwen said, looking up at Knuckles who is lying down on top of the Master Emerald. "Hey, Knuckles. Doing okay?"

Knuckles opens his eye and smiles.

"Yeah. Doing good. I'm gonna have to stay here."

"I see. But you know, if you need us, you can ask someone worthy to watch over the Master Emerald. Someone who can take the responsibility seriously. Aren't you a little tired of staying cooped up on the island?" she said.

Knuckles looks up at the sky for a moment.

"Yeah... You got a point. I'll think about it."

Gwen nodded, happy to hear that before Sonic sped by and slid to a stop.

"Yo, Knux!" he greeted. "I just did a couple of laps around the island. Everything looks intact! Tails says he can get the battleship he crashed into Master Overlord fly again, so we're all heading back to Resistance HQ. You coming?"

"Nah." Knuckles responded, closing his eyes. "It's my duty to guard the Master Emerald. I'm staying right here."

"I figured you'd say that. Still, the offer stands." Sonic said with a knowing smile.

"Thanks." Knuckles said, stretching.

"If you ever get too lonely up here, let us know." Sonic said.

"Pfft. You'll cause some problem and bring it to my doorstep in no time." Knuckles stated.

"Ha! True enough." Sonic chuckled.

"What about the Resistance?" Zero mentioned, raising his eyebrow. "You plan on leading them remotely, Commander?"

Knuckles sat up.

"Oh, yeah. I did take command, didn't I...?" he said thoughtfully then laid back down on the Master Emerald. "Well... the war's over and Metal Sonic is trashed. There doesn't really need to be a Resistance anymore, does there? Eh, consider it disbanded."

"Whatever you say, Knux." Sonic understood before speeding off and giving him a peace sign. "Catch ya later! I'm outta here!"

"Whatever. Get off my island." Knuckles said, giving him a thumb down.

"See you, Knuckles." Gwen smiled before she and Zero and Eclipse caught up with Sonic.

As soon as they made it back to the battleship, Gwen, Eclipse, and Zero started to have a serious talk in private.

"Well, one thing I don't get is how did you know about this new threat?" Gwen asked trying to figure out how Zero knew about this.

"I had a vision. A horrid one that I can't describe." Zero said, recalling his flashback.

"Well, that's plenty." Eclipse commented. "So what do we do?"

"Hang on, Zero what did you see in that vision?" Gwen asked.

"I saw Eggman and that... duck doctor." Zero explained. "They were experimenting those poor creatures. Like they were being turned into monsters. Then there's fire. Fire... everywhere in the entire city and the people being turned into one while they tried to escape... It's all... chaos..." his voice whispered in horror. "Then a mysterious creature appeared in front of me. It told me to bring Gwen to my world, that you would help stop this new threat. And that's why I came to your world, Gwen. To find you because you helped me save this world once and maybe you could do it again." Zero continued.
