Few months later…~~
The morning sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, bathing the room in a warm golden glow. Shaurya stirred first, waking to the feeling of soft breaths against his chest and a very prominent bump pressed to his side. Mehul was still asleep, his hands cradled around his large belly, now in the ninth month. His face had a peaceful glow, lips slightly parted, one leg thrown carelessly over Shaurya's.
Shaurya smiled, gently brushing his thumb over Mehul's cheek. He still couldn't believe it sometimes — that this beautiful man was his, that their baby was just days away from arriving.
He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Mehul's forehead, then to the bump. “Good morning, little sunshine. Can’t wait to meet you.”
Mehul stirred slowly, blinking up at Shaurya. “Hmm… what time is it?”
“Still early. Go back to sleep.”
But Mehul only stretched and then winced a little. “She kicked again… this one’s a strong one.”
Shaurya immediately helped him sit up. “Do you want water? Breakfast in bed? A foot massage?”
Mehul giggled. “No, Mr. Overprotective. I’m fine. Just… heavy.”
Shaurya placed a gentle kiss on his temple. “You’re beautiful.”
“And swollen,” Mehul teased.
“And glowing,” Shaurya said, brushing his nose against Mehul’s.
The rest of the morning passed in soft laughter, warm breakfast in bed, and Shaurya sitting on the floor, gently oiling Mehul’s feet while humming to their unborn child. Their lives had become a blend of tenderness and quiet joy.
Three days later…
It was just after midnight when Mehul gripped the bedsheet and gasped sharply. “Shaurya ji…”
Shaurya shot up. “What? What is it? Pain?”
Mehul looked up at him, fear and excitement in his eyes. “I-I think… it’s time…”
Shaurya was already on his feet, grabbing the hospital bag, calling the doctor, and gently helping Mehul change.
Within minutes, the car was flying through the quiet streets of Mumbai, and Shaurya kept talking to Mehul to keep him calm, holding his hand the entire ride. “We’re going to be okay. You’re strong. I’m right here.”
“Why are you more nervous than me!?” Mehul teased, softly.
At the hospital, everything moved fast. Mehul was taken into the delivery room. Shaurya was right beside him, dressed in scrubs, holding his hand tightly as the contractions get stronger.
Tears pricked Mehul’s eyes. “It hurts, Shaurya ji…”
“I know, love, I know… just a little more, I’m right here. Breathe with me, okay?”
Hours passed in a whirlwind of pain, strength, and love.
Then came the moment.
A high-pitched cry broke through the room.
Shaurya stood frozen, watching as the nurse held up the tiniest, most beautiful baby he'd ever seen.
“It's a baby girl,” the nurse said.
“She’s here…”Shaurya whispered, voice cracking.
Shaurya’s eyes filled with tears as he leaned down and kissed Mehul’s forehead over and over. “You did it. Mehul, you did it…”
