Jake pov:
At night, Hailey messaged me asking how the date went. I responded, telling her that I would tell her what happened tomorrow. She started sending me lots of worried messages but I just turned my phone off and laid in bed staring at the ceiling.

I started feeling numb again. I didn't want to move, I didn't want to eat dinner nor do homework. I just wanted to stare at my roof.

Loud music broke the silence and I turned to my bed side table. My phone was lit up, buzzing as someone was calling me.

I picked up my phone checking the contact. It was Hailey. I cleared my throat before picking up.

"Hello?" I said groggily. "Jake? Are you okay?" She asked sounding worried. The question lingered in the air as I tapped my finger repeatedly on my thigh, not knowing what to say.

There was sounds of movement on the other end of the call, sounds of muffled talking and a loud key noise. "I'll be over in 10" is all I heard before the call ended.

I groaned, I was way to tired to talk let alone think straight. Having Hailey come over unannounced and me unprepared sounded not great in my current condition but...I couldn't lie and say I didn't so much mind if she did. After all I could use some company.

"Jake! Hailey is here !" I heard my mum call from down stairs. My mum had gotten used to seeing Hailey randomly over so this was usual.

I heard quick footsteps of running up the stairs before my door creaked quietly and Hailey walked in. "Hey Jake.." she said softly, walking over. Sitting up, I looked around my room suddenly feeling embarrassed because of how messy it was.

"I understand if you don't wanna talk about it, but I need you to know that I will be here and I will always be here for you." Hailey smiled, now sitting on the edge of my bed.

I opened my mouth to speak but instead let out a small croak before I felt tears running down my face. "I messed up didn't I?" My voice shaky.

"Jake, you can't make someone love you..no matter what you do, you can't physically force someone to like you back and that's just how it goes." Hailey began in a calm voice, the way she spoke made it sound like she had experienced this before...but that wasn't right. Hailey didn't like anyone so she couldn't of been through this.

"Maybe she wasn't the one or maybe she will come back in the future, however ether way, it's good that you at least now know. That way—you won't waste your time wondering weather she likes you back or not." Haileys voice sounded genuine but her face looked almost guilty, like she had done something.

"Thanks hails..." I smiled finally looking up to properly look at her. She just smiled back before changing the topic to a debate she had with Zander. I knew what she was doing, she was changing the topic to distract me or whatever but it was nice knowing she cared.

A week had passed and I was finally starting to feel better. I think Hailey helped ALOT by just being there.

Daisy had been a bit more distanced (to no one's surprise) but she occasionally smiled at me when passing. I couldn't tell if it was a genuine smile or a pitying smile. Ether way, I made my peace with it...or that's what I'm telling my self.

I took my phone out to message Hailey.

Me and Hailey had planed to go and watch a neighbourhood hosted mini performance for the kids who wanted to showcase their musical abilities, we were mainly going as we wanted to watch singing.
