Chapter 8

"It's destiny. " Chase stated with a big smirk after I informed him that we had all the same classes.

"Or. Maybe it's just mere coincidence. " I shrugged as I opened my locker to take out my calculus book.

"Hey Chase, where is your locker?" I asked curiously looking up at him.

He reached into the side pocket of his jeans and pulled out a piece of paper.

"375." He simply stated.

"Well, mine is 255."I stated as a matter a fact. "So. That means that your locker is upstairs. "

"That sounds like a hassle." He scrunched up his face. "I think I'll just share with you. "

"No way! I like my privacy. " I shook my head.

"Come on Emma please. " He pleaded bending his knees just slightly and slouching his back just the littlest bit so that he could be at my eye level. "Anyway, it makes sense that we share lockers since we have classes together?" He stated flatly as he shrugged his holders.

"I'm not sharing my locker with you." I said flatly as I slammed my locker closed and proceeded to walk towards our class.

"That's what you think. " He held up his pointing finger as if he was stating a fact.

"Ugh! Hurry up point Dexter. " It was way too early to be dealing with him, I need coffee!

"Hey!" He cringed at my comment. "Wait up, will you?"

I stopped in my tracks and turned around as I tapped one foot and crossed my arms over my chest waiting for Chase to catch up. As soon as he got near me, he casually put his arm around my shoulders keeping me close.

It's weird but I felt safe when he did that. I felt like he was protecting me from the world. Making sure that no harm would ever come to me.

"Emma?" I heard an all too familiar voice. It was Maggie.

I turned around she was standing in the middle of the hallway as students walked around her. She stood there with a curiously dubious look. I smiled at her and walked towards her.

"Hey Mags." I hugged her. I felt Chase linger behind me as he stood just a couple of steps back. As if giving Maggie and myself space to ourselves.

"So, who's the hottie Ems? " She whispered in my ear before she released me from our hug. She starred at Chase as if he was a piece of chocolate. Mentally undressing him. She casually bit her bottom lip.

I turned around and faced Chase. Maggie walked towards Chase. It made me uneasy. I didn't like her close to him.

"This is Chase my new neighbor. " I turned towards him. "Chase this is Maggie. "

I don't know why I did it but even I couldn't explain my actions. It was instinct as I secretly claimed him as my own. I put my arm around Chases arm. Like when I lady does to a gentleman in all those sappy romantic movies. I felt Chase look down at my arm and smiled.

He turned around toward Maggie and to my surprise he barely paid attention to her. He wasn't like every other guy that drooled over her. No, it was like he barely noticed her.

"Sup." were the only words that came out of his mouth. Sup' were the words that he directed towards Maggie. Wait why should I care!! I mentally slapped myself. Remember Emma, he kidnapped you last night. And don't forget how he put his hands on your bare legs!
