Chapter 1
As I laid in my bed staring at the ceiling, I couldn't help but wonder if today was THE day, the day that everything would change for me. I mean after all I was going to be a senior in high school. But in all honesty, who was I freaking kidding I was plain old Emma Evans. The nobody, I wasn't even noticed in school yet acknowledged. To be honest I had but two friends. Not that I was complaining I mean I loved having a small circle, it meant that I could always count on them as they could always count on me.
Starring at my alarm that was placed on my nightstand, it read 5:45am it was about to ring in exactly 15 min, signaling for me to get up, I guess I just beat it to the punch. There was no point in trying to go back to sleep. I reluctantly got up from my warm bed. Putting my hair in a bun, I made my way to the bathroom to take a shower. That's the thing about showers though once you are in there it is next to impossible to get out of that warm water. Well for me it was, anyways.
Once out I passed my mirror. As I starred at my body. My awkward teenage body. Has anyone ever really looked at these so-called teenagers on TV with their perfect bodies that looked mature, I had a normal one that was barely starting to develop. I don't know why the media industry would do that to teenager. Making it seem like they weren't perfect or at least that was how I felt all my life. Also, unlike all other teenagers, my breast had barely grown in this past summer. I still didn't know how I felt about that to be honest.
I mean it's not like I was the kind of girl that would wear tight nice blouses. No, I was the type of girl that would wear t-shirts and jeans with sneakers. I dropped my towels as soon as I entered my room making my way to my closet. But I mean since I wasn't fancy and all it never took me long to get ready. I slipped on my All Time Low T-shirt and my skinny jeans with my black on black vans. Putting my hair in a high ponytail.
I was the youngest of 2. I had an older brother Jason. My complete opposite. He had also gone to the same high school as me, West Wood high. There he was a god, he was worshipped. All the girls would kiss the ground he walked on. But what was he doing now, sleeping? Going to community college since he didn't care much about his schoolwork in high school and cared more about his social life. And even though he was worshipped and happened to be my brother I was nothing like him. I don't even think that anyone knew that we were related. I was more of a nerd. Blond, small with glasses, always had my head in a book. The only thing that we had in common where our dad's green eyes. And he had his black hair.
" Jason, don't you have school today?" I asked him as I pushed open the door to his messy room.
"How many times have I told you not to wake me up!" he yelled from under his covers.
shaking my head, I made my way downstairs, heading straight to the kitchen. Noticing my mom leaning on the granite counter drinking her morning coffee.
"Hey mom, what's up?" I asked as I grabbed a banana from the fruit basket.
"Your dad came by last night, he really wanted to see you honey." Her voice had a sense of sympathy.
"Oh, well then I'm glad that I wasn't here then." I mumbled looking down on the floor. Feeling great full that I was out with my friends.
"What did he want anyways, does he not understand that I don't want to see him." I said almost half yelling. Making me feel bad almost instantly because my mom had nothing to do with what my dad had done.
My parents had officially gotten divorced over the summer. By officially I mean the court had finalized it. It's not like their divorce came as a surprise to me, my dad had moved out 2 years ago. I hated him though; he ruined our family. I hated him for leaving us, for preferring to be with his new family. I guess he just got bored with us, we suddenly weren't enough anymore. I wasn't enough for him anymore.
