Chapter 11

I turned and looked down at it.
It was Chase again.

"I think I better answer."

"Yeah, maybe you should."

Damien walked towards Walter.

"Hey Chase... " I was immediately cut off.

"Where are you! I have been going crazy I went to the mall to see if you were there, and I couldn't find you. Are you ok where are you?"

"Chase calm down breath I'm fine sorry, I got a flat tire. And well I am at the mechanics getting my tired changed."

"All day! Never mind as long as you're ok. Why didn't you call me. Where are you exactly, I'll meet up with you."

"I don't know exactly."

I looked around for an address.

"How did you get there?"

"Well...."

"Don't fuck with me Emma how the fuck did you get there!"

"Look I didn't go looking for anyone ok it just happened."

"Just tell me."

"Damien was driving by and he stopped......."

"What the fuck Emma! What is the fucken place called? I'm going to fucken kill him!"

"It's Walters mechanics... "

For the last time today, I was cut off by Chase. He had hung up his phone. I walked over to Damien; he somehow felt my presence because he turned around towards me.

"So, we have a problem." Damien looked at me.

"Today is just not my day huh?"

His eyes softened a little.

"The tire is fixed but the axel on the car cracked and Walt is going to order the part to change it."

"Ok, it will be ready by tomorrow?"

"Yeah, want me to take you home?"

I thought about it, but I knew Chase was already on the way here.

"Chase is coming." I looked down at the pavement. It was all cracked up. In between the cracks a couple pieces of grass were coming out.

"But can you wait with me."

We walked around the building and sat down on a step.

"So I was wondering.... Why did you owe that guy so much money?"

I shifted my head just slightly. Damien was currently sitting on my left-hand side. A little too close for my liking. Our legs were currently touching, the slightest bit but still. It makes my heart race.

"My dad walked out on my mom my sister and I when I was 10 my sister was just a couple of months old. My mom worked hard but she was drowning in bills and well stuff. Then one day my sister got sick. She was 5. They found a tumor near her spine. She needed surgery and well that shit is fucken expensive. About 50 grand. Money that my mom didn't have. So I went to Jace and asked for a loan. I would do jobs for him, and he would take payment for that but with interest I owed about 75 grand. Mom caught a break recently married a rich judge or something. He asked me recently what was wrong, finally I broke down and told him the problem I was having, and he gave me the money to pay it off."

His sister had cancer. Fucken cancer and he took the initiative to help her and his mom. Damien the guy that I thought was the biggest douche. No, not right now I was looking at him in a different light. And I truly was. Maybe he isn't the person I thought he was.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't it wasn't your fault. Life just works that way. I mean she is fine now. She made it that's what matters."

"You know you're not the big ass wipe that I thought you were." I chuckled trying to lighten up the mood.

"Just don't tell anyone I have a rep to protect." He winked at me.

I laughed and he chuckled.

He was playing with his fingers. For some odd reason though I wanted to reach and hold them. I wanted to comfort him.

I heard an engine roar, an hour or so had passed. Headlights heading our way.

I knew it had to be Chase. The car stopped a few feet in front of us.

A very pissed off Chase came out of the car. He didn't even bother to turn off his car. Damien and I instantly got up. Chase made his way to where we stood.

He was fuming, I could honestly say that I feared him at the moment. I think Damien sensed my fear. Because he instantly grabbed my shoulder and place me behind him.

"Don't you fucken touch her!" Chase yelled out.

Damien on the other had just chuckled.

I moved to the side just a bit to see Chase. Chases eyes landed on me. And they softened. Then Damien reached back to move once again right behind him.

And it all happened tooquickly. Chase punched Damien right on the jaw
