Carmen
⠀I straightened out the ruffles on my shirt one last time before I knocked on Justin's door. My parents always taught me to be the bigger person and apologize, so I'm going to do that. Maybe this will turn out for the better. But, I wonder if it's to late to say sorry.
⠀I knocked twice on the door, and a few seconds later Justin opened it. He looked nice, as usual. He was wearing grey sweatpants and a black shirt.
⠀"Can I come in?" I asked.
⠀He had no emotion in his face. He opened the door wider, motioning for me to come in.
⠀"Justin, I know this is awkward, and I know that I'm the last person on earth you want to see right now. But I'm sorry. I know I apologized a once or twice, or a couple of hundred times, but this time, I mean it. I invades your privacy and used you. I hope you forgive me." I took a deep breath and waited for him to reply.
⠀He smiled. "I forgive you, Carmen."
⠀I looked at him wide eyed. "What do you mean? You're nodding your head but you want to say no, how can you forgive me that easily? I thought you would have put me through—"
⠀He chuckled. "Carmen, I know I also put you through a lot of shit. I'm also apologizing on behalf of my behaviour."
⠀"Well, thank you. I forgive you as well." He leaned in to hug me and I hugged back.
⠀It felt good. I felt relieved, knowing that he has my trust. Maybe this is all bothering me because I'm in love?
⠀"Since we got that cleared off, how about we go to Town's Coffee? Just get something to drink and talk a bit."
⠀"I would most certainly love that."
