"Hey, Carmen can we talk?"

My body stiffens up as he says those five words, what could he ever want to talk to me about?

"About what?" I say trailing off not looking into his eyes.
⠀

"It's about Hailey. Do you think she likes me? I know she's a porn star and all, but I don't know I just
really like her. I feel a connection with her."
⠀

His words broke me, even through me and him were starting to become friends, I knew I had some type of feelings for him, and knowing he never will like me back is heartbreaking.

"Just go for it, dude." I say softly looking down at my feet as he stands on my porch and I stand in the door way.
⠀

He smiled back in response. "Really? I think I will."
⠀

I nodded and dazed off. "Carmen, are you okay?" He said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, I'm fine."
⠀

"Alright, can I come in?" He asked me looking inside my door.
⠀

"Of course." I smiled sweetly, letting him in.
⠀

"So, I was thinking of taking Hailey for bowling then pizza. She loves bowling. Do you think we should also go for ice cream? Or should I just take her for ice cream...?"

"Oh, um, I'm sure she would love all of that." I rolled my eyes quickly without him noticing.
⠀

"Thank you, Carmen. I just needed someone to clear it out with."
⠀

"I'm always here for you, Justin." I replied, grabbing two mugs and preparing hot chocolate.

"So, what do you think about Hailey? Do you like her? I'm sure you do, isn't she just amazing?"
