"¿Que?" Justin tilted his head in confusion. I would have laughed if I wasn't so confused.
"Let me explain," Yeah, you should do that. "H.T.I.N stands for Helping Those In Need."
"The volunteer group?" I remembered hearing about the infamous group a few times.
He nodded and pulled out two pamphlets, handing it to us. "We are growing in popularity but are still not well known and I think some additional youth will help us."
I clicked my touch and sighed. "I gotta ask my mom."
Justin gave me an incredulous look and I tilted my head at him. "What?"
He shook his head and stood up. "Sorry, I can't do it. I got too many things to do. Destiny, come on."
I bit my lip and stared at the solemn man. "If my mom says yes then I'll do it, okay?"
He let out a relieved sigh and shook my head. "Thank you so much. You are a blessing."
A grin formed on my face while Justin rolled his eyes. "You're welcome. It was a pleasure meeting you."
We left and shopped for the rest of our things. "You are so easily guilt tripped."
"Excuse me?" I said appalled at his statement.
He looked annoyed and I frowned. What the hell is his problem? "That guy could have easily been a pimp or something."
I let out a snort. "Yeah, okay. Help me carry all of this before I make you do it by yourself."
"I'm serious. Just because he looked all sad you decided to oblige." I rolled my eyes and walked towards my car.
"I didn't oblige. I said that if my mother agreed then I would." Popping the trunk, I put the bags inside and closed it.
"Exactly." I groaned and got in the car.
"Want to hang out for a bit before dropping me off?" I turned on the radio and pulled out the parking lot.
"Depends on what you have in mind." I said not sparing him a glance.
"We could go to my hangout." I laughed at his wording choice and tapped my fingers against the wheel.
"Hangout? Usually when teenagers use that word it has nothing to do with actually hanging out." He smirked and leaned towards me.
"My friends are waiting for me and I bet you'll have fun." I ignored him and turned down the road.
"I bet you won't be having fun in a minute if you don't get out of my damn personal space." I snapped after he didn't move.
"So, are you coming?" I glared at him.
"Tell me where to go."
-----------
I pulled up at a house and I became nervous. I agreed on the spot because of my irritation but I didn't really know what to expect. My shoulders relaxed slightly when I saw Zay.
I turned the car off and stepped out, trailing behind Justin. I watched quietly as they did their thing. I slunk back when more of his crew came out of the house with beers in their hands.
What the fuck have I got myself into? My heart lunched into my throat when my name was called and their attention was directed onto me. I lifted my head and put on a poker face to mask my anxiety.
"What?" It came out more harshly than I intended but Justin didn't seem bothered by it.
"Come over here and stop being anti-social. Meet my friends." I don't want to meet your stupid friends, I thought angrily.
I stood beside him and crossed my arms over my chest. "This is Zay as you already know." Zay sent me a charming smile and I nodded in acknowledgement.
"This is Izzy. She looks mean but she's a total sweetheart." She glared at Justin but turned to me and slowly blew her gum, popping it before looking away.
"Drew," He pointed to a guy who was playing on a handheld console. My eyes widened in amazement at how he still had one. I gave mine up years ago.
"Orlan," There was another guy with long black hair who was leaning on the last person that had not been mentioned yet.
"Last but not least, this is Chris." I watched as Orlan planted a kiss on Chris's temple. They weren't looking directly at me but they were gauging my reaction.
"Nice to meet you." I said softly.
They broke out in grin and I was surprised at the sudden change. "Welcome to the crew. You are officially one of us."
I was speechless and Izzy took the time to speak. She approached me with a small smile and draped her arm over my shoulders. "I've been dying to have another girl in the group. Do you know how horrid it is to be the only girl in a group of all boys?"
I let out a chuckle at her tone as they led me inside the house. "How long can you stay, buttercup?" I cringed at Zay's nickname for me.
"One, don't call me that. Second, I can only stay for awhile." Drew whistled and patted Zay's back.
"You just got rejected. R-E-J-E-C-T-E-D." Zay slapped Drew upside the head and I laughed again.
I felt something cold press against my neck and I shivered. I turned around and saw a beer can held by no other than Justin. "Want some?"
I glanced at the can and shook my head. "Nah, I got to drive home and my mom would kill me if she smelt alcohol on me."
He shrugged and popped open the can. "Is your mom really that bad?"
"Are you kidding me? My mom don't play. She'll kick my ass if I do anything she don't like. I don't even want to think about what she would do to me if she found out I drunk alcohol and drove home." I shivered again but this time out of fear.
He laughed and nearly did a spit take, a few droplets flew from his mouth. I scowled in disgust but seconds later found myself smiling. "Why are you laughing? Is the thought of me dying funny to you?"
He shook his head, composing myself. "Nah, it's just I can't imagine my mom like that. She don't care enough."
I found my smile fading and I looked away. "Oh."
"Don't get all sorry for me and shit. I promised you would have fun." He muttered.
"Yeah, whatever." I said forcing a smirk onto my face.
"Come over here, you losers!!! We're going to play Cards Against Humanity!!!" Orlan hollered and Chris told him to shut up.
"Um, I got to-" I mumbled.
"I know but you can't stay for a little longer." I bit my lip and looked at the time.
I could still stay for a little longer. "Just ten minutes, okay?"
Justin grinned and pushed me towards the middle of the front room.
------''''''''''----------------------'''-----'''''''''----
Ha, that was a bad idea. But whatever. She'll get over it.
And isn't Justin's subtle concern for her just adorable?!
They are going to be the cutest couple, I swear!!!
Andddd yes, yes, yes, Orlan and Chris are both boys.
