"Destiny, get up." I groaned and buried myself further in the covers.
"Can I please just stay here, ma?"
"No." She started pulling on the sheets and I grabbed it, tugging it back up which inevitably started a tug a war with the sheets.
"Let. Go." She grunted as she successfully pulled the sheets off me.
I shivered as my warmth was taken from me and I sat up. "Get ready for school."
I wordlessly got out of bed (except for the occasional grumble about having to get up) and stumbled towards the bathroom. I picked up my phone and played some music.
I put down my phone and picked up my toothbrush, wetting it before squeezing on the toothpaste. I hummed along to the song, stopping occasionally to spit.
I rinsed my mouth out and walked out, putting on my clothes. Not wanting to look for matching socks, I slipped on mix matched ones.
I walked downstairs, matching the beat of the song and kissed my mom on the cheek. "Good morning."
"Why are you in such a good mood?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
I waved my phone in the air and smiled. "Music." I stated.
I grabbed a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a bowl. I tapped my foot as I poured my milk in my cereal.
The song changed and I gasped. My mom looked at me strangely and I smirked. I draped myself on the table dramatically and began to sing.
"If I lay here, if I just lay here. Would you lie with me and just forget the world?" I was obnoxiously loud and my mom made sure I knew it. She hit me upside my head and told me to get off the table and eat. She sounded angry but her tiny smile betrayed her.
"Where's dad?" I asked shoving a spoonful of cereal in my mouth.
"Sleeping." She said simply.
I hummed and continued to eat. Our morning was completed by absent conversations and the bustle of getting ready to leave.
I grabbed my book bag and my mother grabbed her keys. She took the honor of driving me to school this morning, even though I had my own car.
The drive to school was silent as usual but that had caused a bubble of uneasiness to form in my stomach. I bit my lip nervously as the school came into view. What was I so nervous for?
I hesitantly got out and waved to my mom. "Drive safe." She smiled and blew a kiss before driving off.
I stalked through the hallways until I arrived at my locker and opened it. I pulled out my books for my first block and let out a sigh. I'm worrying for nothing.
I jumped as my locker slammed shut by a familiar hand. I relaxed and turned greet him. "Hey, Justin."
"I'm sulking." He bluntly stated.
"Okay..?" I said slowly.
He waved a hand in my face and I slapped it away. "This dude hung up on me while you were talking to me and you didn't call back. I'm sulking."
"Oh," I smirked. "Well, go ahead and sulk."
"Why are you so mean to me? But, anyway, who was he so I can kick his ass?" He draped his arm over my shoulders as we began walked.
I scowled at him. "First of all, get your arm off of me. Second of all, leave him alone. I probably won't be seeing him again until I volunteer again."
He frowned and reluctantly removed his arm. "Are you coming over today? We need to work on the project."
"Yeah, of course." I arrived at my classroom and he pulled me into a brief hug, surprising me greatly.
