Toby looks around, focusing.

He spots his hatchets and instantly retrieves them, looking around once more. He studies each weapon carefully, picking some up to test the weight.

I watch him quietly.

There are many different weapons to chose from: Knives, guns, crossbows, chains, swords, even medieval looking weapons.

I look over the weapons with Toby, I needed to fight, and I needed a weapon.

My initial idea was a sword, I could kill them without having to get close, but I was too weak to swing it.

Toby handed me a bow, but I couldn't get the hang of it.

I tried knives but Toby said it was risky, getting too close.

We both sigh in frustration as each weapon has its own flaw.

Right as I'm about to give up, a tall golden spear in the corner of the room catches my eye.

I walk over to it, grabbing it.

It was heavy, but comfortably heavy.

I study the design as Toby walks over to me.

It has moons, starts, and a woman that looks much like a Greek goddess engraved in the gold of the handle, an assortment of stones and gems lining down the powerful weapon.

"A spear?" Toby questions upon noticing my interest in the tool.

"It... feels right. Like, like when you adopt a dog, the perfect one..." I whisper, still grazing the spear with gracious eyes of amazement.

"Well, I guess that's your weapon. This is good, it's perfect. Who knew you'd find you're weapon here." Toby smirks.

"Now let's get down to the nitty gritty. We have to teach you how to use that thing."

I watch his lips move, wide-eyed, gripping the weapon tightly in determination.

The guards re-enter the room, taking us back to the room we woke up it, except it was lighter now; Well, light enough to see.

Toby grabs my hands, placing them on the spear in a more comfortable stance, like a baseball coach would instruct a kid to hold a bat.

I watch where my hands are placed, this was vital. Toby and I had to win.

Toby teaches me the best techniques for stabbing, slashing, and swinging.

Toby was patient with me, even while I messed up over and over. He kept calmly showing me what to do until I got the hang of it.

Toby showed me a few moves that looked like they came out of an action movie, he obviously knew what he was doing.

I tried my best to mimic Toby's movements, still looking nothing like his.

If it weren't for the dire situation, I'd have complete admiration for Toby, but now isn't the time to be fangirling over him.

I keep practing, keep trying, keep getting up.

Toby watches me intently.

He smirks when I do an excellent job, helping me up when I fall.

"Drop the spear before falling." He warned me over and over.

I nodded each time he reminded me, the phrase getting old.

I sit down on the ground, breathing heavily, sweat in beads that connect and stream down my face in a small river.
