Sex, drugs, rock n roll; you guys know the drill. A little bit of humor, a little bit of pain in this chapter. I am lying about one of these things.
Also, I just want to thank all of you. You're all amazing. Your support fuels me and you're the reason I keep going with this. Thank you all so much! XOXO
March 1977
Stevie was so relieved to have a day off from the tour. She didn't want to do anything except lie in bed all day. She was exhausted; they all were. The venues were sold out every night so they always felt they had to put on the best show of their lives.
The knocking on the door startled her. She hadn't ordered room service. She pulled the covers over her head and hoped the person on the other side would go away.
When the knocking became persistent, she got out of bed and threw on her robe to go answer it.
Of course it was Lindsey standing on the other side. "What the hell do you want?"
"I...um....I don't actually know," he confessed.
"You don't know why you're banging on my door on our day off?" She knew he could tell she was getting angry.
"I just wanted to see you."
"Oh Jesus Christ, Lindsey! Go be with your girlfriend! I don't have time for your bullshit. I'm exhausted and I want to be left alone." She tried to shut the door, but he stopped her.
"I'm really sorry about last night," he said.
"Do you mean when you called me a whore?" Lindsey just cleared his throat.
She shrugged, "it's fine. I mean, it's true, isn't it? I fuck a lot of men."
"Come on, Steph. Don't be like that. I was just...angry."
"You know what the worst part was? For once I didn't actually do anything wrong."
"I know, I know. I was frustrated. Do you have any idea how it feels to want you and not be able to have you?"
She looked at him like he was the biggest moron she had ever met. "Oh no, Lindsey. I have no fucking clue what that's like."
He shook his head, "sorry, that was a stupid thing to ask."
"Are we done here?"
"Yeah," he nodded, "I just...I miss you, okay?"
"Okay." She watched him turn to leave. She knew if she called out his name, he would come back.
So she hesitated, trying to make up her mind before he reached the elevator.
"Lindsey!" She called out. He turned to look at her. "Do you want to come in?"
"Yes."
She held her hand out for him and he made it back to her in just a few strides. He took her hand, she locked the door and she took him to bed.

"You sound great, baby. Just one more time?" Lindsey bounced their seven month old baby girl on his knee while he listened to her mother sing.
Stevie nodded and began to sing the chorus of Sorcerer one more time. She was interrupted when Max hit the button on the soundboard and said, "mamas seepies."
