She took off her headphones and walked out of the booth. Max ran right to her and she scooped him into her arms. "Are you sleepy chunky monkey?"
He nodded and rubbed his eyes. Stevie glanced at Lindsey, "I guess we're done for the afternoon."
Lindsey stood up to follow her upstairs. "I don't even know how he got up there."
"You know he's been practicing his climbing," Stevie said as she took him upstairs to put him to bed.
Lindsey attempted to get Lizzie to eat some green beans, but she just spit them back out. He went with bananas next, knowing it was a safe bet.
He was just coming back downstairs from putting Lizzie in her crib for her own nap when he saw Stevie sitting on the couch writing in her notebook.
He stood back and just watched her for a moment. She was wearing a black t-shirt so low cut he could see the black lace beneath it. She was freshly showered and her damp hair fell in waves.
She was beautiful.
He was pretty certain he was actually going to go insane.
She had always, always looked perfect to him. She, however, decided she needed to lose all the baby weight if she was going to be promoting a new album and possibly going on tour.
So, she started working out. Sometimes they even worked out together or went for a run. It was nice. He liked spending time with her without the kids. It gave them time to reconnect.
Except that he wanted her even more now, if that were possible.
This whole celibacy thing they had going on was becoming torturous.
He knew he still had to work to get her back. He knew she was afraid. Hell, he was afraid too. She wasn't wrong about their relationship and its ups and downs. It scared him to death to think they could slip back into what they had been before.
It was just that she drove him crazy and she knew it.
She started twirling her hair around her finger because she knew he was watching her. He sighed to himself and made his way to the couch.
"What are you working on?" He inquired as he sat down next to her.
Stevie looked up at him and smiled, "just changing some lyrics." She smirked as she watched him try to keep his eyes focused on her face instead of her chest. He wavered for the slightest second before he looked at her again.
"Should we go back downstairs and work while the kids are sleeping?"
"I'm hungry and tired," she told him.
"Okay, I can go get some lunch." He stood up and looked around for his keys.
"Lindsey, your keys are in your pocket."
"Oh, right," he chuckled a little.
She tilted her head and looked at him, "why are you being weird?"
"I'm....I'm not being weird. You're....being weird," he stammered.
She just stared at him for a moment while he looked incredibly uncomfortable. "Go get lunch."
He nearly ran out the door.
When he got back with lunch they sat down at the kitchen table. She noticed Lindsey wouldn't look at her, even when she spoke to him.
"Lindsey, you're being rude. Look at me when I'm talking to you," she said, clearly annoyed.
He kept his eyes down, "I can't."
