My Lucky Day ( A Before You Exit / Toby Mcdonough Fanfiction )

The walk to my house was mostly full of awkward silence. I'm not entirely sure if it was because of what Connor said before but it seems like that. I wonder what he meant when he said that anyway. My mind replays the conversation over and over as if it's on a continuous loop or something.

" They aren't our girlfriends ! "    " Not yet anyway ! "

Does he think Toby and Riley like us as more than friends ? They couldn't were nothing special just the girls that moved in down the street. I mean I guess I could see Riley and Kristy maybe but Toby couldn't like me that way. We just met and I'm certain love at first sight is a load of sasquatch droppings.

" Hey Kahlil ? "

I look up a little surprised. I was so consumed in my thoughts I totally forgot Toby was walking with me.

" Yeah ? "

" What are you thinking about ? " He asked jamming his hands in his pockets. I can't say I blame him it's cold out here !

" Oh um... Nothing important... " I said hoping he would drop it. I sadly wasn't so fortunate though.

" It's about what Connor said isn't it ? " He said looking up at me sadly. Well technically down but you know what I mean.

I looked up at him and I guess that answered his question for him because he looks away and smiles a little. I wonder what he's smiling about ? What ever it's about it must have made him really happy. All of a sudden I realize were at my house now and the moving truck is gone. I also notice my dads car isn't here though. He must've gone to work already, I thought he wasn't supposed to start till Monday. I guess they needed him sooner though.

" You can come in and wait in the living room if you want. It's sort of cold outside so I don't want to leave you out here to catch a cold or something. " I say while unlocking the door.

" Thanks. " He said as we walked in and shut the door.

" The living rooms just down that hall. I'm going to be upstairs for a minute but I'll be back soon. " I said as I practically ran up the stairs.

I run into my room and go straight to my closet. It's basically a walk in closet and my dad bought me a ton of new clothes. It's scary how well he knows me because he got a lot of clothes I really like. I try to look through them as fast as I can because I feel bad leaving Toby down there alone like that.

I finally just grab a grey shirt with the superman logo on it and throw my blue-grey owl sweater over it. I find a pair of black skinny jeans and finish with my navy blue converse high tops. It may seem uncomfortable to most people but I actually like wearing skinny jeans. I quickly brush threw my hair and grab my keys and phone. I call my dad and leave him a message that I'm going to go to the McDonough's for movie night and that Kristy was going to be there too.

I hang up as I start descending the stairs and look into the living room. Toby is staring at a picture that's sitting on the bookshelf ,so he doesn't notice when I walk in the room.

" I remember that day. We were all so happy when she was around. " I say probably scaring the crumbs out of him.

" Oh. I'm sorry I was just looking. " He said putting the picture down.

" It's fine. That picture just reminds me of a time when things were different. " I said staring into the distance. I'm not there long before Toby pulls me back from my thoughts.

" So are you ready to go ,the boys are still waiting on us and if we don't hurry they'll pick an awful movie. " He said slightly laughing.

" Well then we better go. " I said laughing at him.
