"HE SAID ME NAME." Sydney screeched like a pterodactyl at the end of the video on my phone. "I CANT" she pushed her head back and made a double chin "HHHHHHHRRRHHH"
"Sometimes I question if you're human." I stated blankly
"Ok but what am I going to wear." She completely disregarded me but I wasn't that surprised, what really surprised me was that she was Actually thinking about what she was going to wear, she usually just threw on whatever and kept going "I'm definitely going to wear my markiplier bunny hug you got me for Christmas." She pulled out a black sweater, it was surprisingly black for the amount of cat hair that always floated around the house. We had two cats; one Syds and one mine but I couldn't bring her with me when I moved. "And I need to bring my Sam plush" she pulled out her plush of a green eyeball "oh and my YouTube sneakers I made!" Sydney had always been artistic. She pulled out a pair of white sneakers with intricate drawings on them.
"Damn Syd your pull out games stronger than most guys I know." I joked, nudging her.
"I've been collecting this stuff for years..." She sighed "I can't believe I'm actually going to meet them." Her eyes started tearing up and she grabbed her wrist, looking to me. "Thank you, for coming with me." I was caught off guard by her embrace "these men saved my life and it means the world to me that I get to meet them."
I stood still, her arms were warm and welcoming, I wasn't used to getting hugs, mostly because I didn't like them but... This one was oddly comforting. I squeezed back.

As we walked to the back door as Mark had instructed us to, I could see the butterflies on Sydneys face. She was decked out in youtuber gear with a bunch of art, ready to be signed, some realistic drawings, some cartoons, all amazing. I looked to myself and had found myself dressing oddly formal for going to a panel. My hair was doing its natural wavy thing and I was wearing casual make up, but the rest of me was far from casual. I had a black and white striped shirt on and a black leather jacket. Some chunky gold jewellery hung from my neck and blue skinny jeans clung to me legs. I wore black heels, oh how I regretted wearing heels.
"Go ahead." I urged Syd to knock on the door, her hand was shaking and she hugged her Sam plush, she looked like a teenager but today she was officially an adult. I know 18 is but you can't drink in Canada until you're 19 so that's when you're considered an adult in my books.
A large hefty guy opened the door and Mark was standing there waiting, just as he said he would be.
"These are the people." He told the guard and let us in. "Sydney, I assume?" Sydney started crying and was shaking all over "oh no no no don't cry. I'm not scary I'm just like you." Mark cooed "see? Dick butts!" He did a king of the world pose. She laughed a little "if I were really a professional would I say dick butts let's be honest here"
"You probably would." Syd said quietly to mark
"Ok well that's fair" he said bluntly "do you want a hug?" He opened his arms, I hadn't really noticed how big or how long they were. She stepped into his embrace and got lost in all the red flannel. He put his chin on her head, which was hard since he was so short but he managed to do it. The hug seemed to last forever and (not gonna lie) I got a little jealous. She stepped away and he put his hand on her cheek, smiling comfortingly. "Do you wanna go meet the others?" He asked
She smiled instantly but it died quickly and she got nervous again "ok" I stood there smiling the whole time, I was glad she was happy.
Mark led her to a room and opened the door slowly, all I saw was Syd put her hand to her mouth and gasp before Mark closed the door on me "what?" I was confused and he looked at me, alone in a hallway
"I'm glad I got to see you again." He mumbled and I blushed
"You hugged her for a long time." I looked at him in the eyes. He may have millions of people behind him but that doesn't change that he's a man off of the Internet who I've never met before
"I've learned to never be the first one to let go, because you never know how long someone needs it. They'll let go when they need to." He stood, leaned against the door with his hand.
I looked him up and down "hmp" I glanced at the door "is that all then?" I asked
"W-well I" he stuttered, caught off guard "I'm not just standing here to look pretty." He looked down
"If you were it's not working." I teased
"Hey now." He pointed to me "no need to get like that" he used a stupid voice "for I am the Mark-iplier and I'll look pretty all I want!" He pointed to the sky dramatically
"You really are an Internet personality." I scoffed, and reached for the door nob, opening the door. Sydney was on a couch in between a man with green hair and a burgundy shirt who had his arm around her comfortingly and a lanky man with a red shirt on and uneven stubble. They were both cooing her as she was holding back tears. Another bigger man stood by the couch with his hands in his pockets, watching them with a tender look in his eyes, he was the first to notice me walk in. Mark followed.
"What's wrong?" I asked
"She's just a little stage fright." An Irish accent caught me off guard coming from the green haired man "oh don't cry." He soothed, hugging her gently "it's fine I'm a regular person." She smiled at him and the awkward lanky man hugged her as well
"Yeah, we're just people." He said
"Except with YouTube."
"Shut up wade." Mark said and he looked jokingly hurt, this made Sydney laugh.
The bigger guy looked at wade "God damnit wade" he shook his head, this made them all laugh, including Mark, I stood there clueless.
"It's a reference" Mark cued me in.
Sydney slowly started to relax around them and I started to sink into the pattern of finally getting along and then they throw in a reference I don't get, laugh and we start all over. After an hour and a half the other two that Mark was talking about two nights ago showed up, Sydney didn't seem scared just starstruck, she sat beside me.
"TJ oh my god."
"What?" She tugged on my sleeve
"That, is the king of YouTube."
"The bear?"
"No the blonde one!!!" She hissed
"Oh." He was cute, but not my type.
And there we sat for another half an hour, Syd got her things signed and introduced to the proclaimed 'king of YouTube.' And his friend the bear, aka ken. They joked but I just sat in the corner, scrolling through me phone.
The panel started, and Mark insisted on giving us front row seats. I wonder if we'll continue to be friends or if this is a bone time thing? I hope for Sydneys sake, she gets to see him again.

(Side note: it is now at least 3 months after posting this and I JUST JUST realized I have no chapter 2... oh well I fucked up wouldn't be a first :)))) )
