I held Chloe silently, I honestly didn't know what to say. Chloe's mom had always been there, she was a lot like Chloe. I never thought she'd ever leave Chloe behind.
"What happened?" I whispered. Her delicate frame shaking as she cried into my shoulder.
"T-they were arguing, m-my d-dad and mom. He w-was screaming at h-her, a-and then she just packed u-up and l-left." she sobbed. "C-can I s-stay with you t-tonight?"
I nodded, tightening my arms around her. "Of course, just remember I'm always going to be here for you. I'll even skip class for you," I tried to make a joke.
She nodded slightly, still sobbing. By now my mom should have been long gone, she was always going to bars and traveling.
We sat like that for a really long time, hugging. We didn't let go.
