Newt Scamander Preferences

You were storming out of the house, more infuriated than when you had entered the small building. 

Newt trailed behind a few steps behind, tears running down his face. Exiting the place you once called home, Newt tried to catch up with his lover as your argument began to spill onto the pavement outside. "(Y/N)...(y/n), please listen to me!"

"Why," you called over your shoulder over the roar of New York's city life. "why should I? You never cared enough to listen to me before." you suddenly turned on your heels, facing him.

He stopped walking and stood before you, panting from his exertions.

"I've tried, Newt. I've tried to be there for you. I've tried to comfort you in every way I can think and yet, it's not enough. I'm not enough and I understand that, really...I do. I'm not her, I'm not your Mother. I understand that all you teally want is for her to be alive and I'm so sorry she isn't. She was an amazing woman and I wish I could bring her back but I can't. No one can. And yet you continue to treat me as if I'm the one who's to blame for her passing. Well, I'm not and I can't continue living with you if you're going to treat me like it's all my fault."

"Please, (y/n). Come back to the house. Let's talk about this there." Newt wiped his eyes free of tears, trying to focus on you, whom he loved. "I've just been feeling so, so alone at the moment. I didn't...I didn't mean to hurt you like this. I would never do anything to hurt you. I'm just all over the place at the moment. I don't know which way is up and it's making me act irrationally. Please, (y/n). Come back with me. We can work through this..."

"And what if we can't? What if me coming back just makes things worse? Maybe we're not supposed to be together. Prehaps the universe is trying to tell us something."

He sobbed, looking more broken than you'd ever seen him. "I've just lost my Mother, I don't want to lose you too."

You stood there, tears in your own eyes. "Oh, Newt," your voice broke. "You already have. You just didn't realise it sooner."
