Comforting arms engulfed you in a supportive embrace. You allowed yourself to be pulled into the female's arms, but you weren't grateful for the gentle touch, you were numb and in need of a bed to crawl into and never leave.
Sensing your silent unhappiness, she let you go but continued to hold you at arms length, her eyes surveying your weary appearance and resigned facial expression.
"Oh, sweetie." she said in her smooth-as-honey voice. Pale pink lips grimaced as more of your displeased thoughts spilled into the surrounding atmosphere. "Let's get you some hot cocoa and a nice warm bed. You've really had a tough night."
"Thank you for taking (y/n) in." Graves thanked the golden-haired beauty on your behalf, knowing that under normal circumstances, you would be more than grateful for her hospitality.
She never took her concerned gaze off of your drawn face, as she replied: "There's always room here for you, (y/n). You were right to come here, sweetie. Nothing like being around friends at a time like this."
If you could, you would have mustered a smile but you didn't, you weren't ready to smile just quite yet.
"Queenie, why don't you take (y/n) to their room? I'll make us all some cocoa. It's late and I'm sure we can all do with a drink."
The kind sister nodded at Tina, before she guided you in the direction of your new bedroom.
Watching you go, the brunette female bite her lower lip anxiously, not accustomed to seeing you look so defeated.
Once you were definitely out of sight and earshot, Tina focused her attention on the slightly older male, who too was staring intently at the door you were now behind. "How bad was it when you got there?" she whispered, not wanting you to hear their discussion.
"Bad is an understatement." Graves simply replied. There was no use sugercoating the truth. "I didn't know what to do, Tina. I had no f*cking clue on how to calm (y/n) down. I've never heard someone scream like that before, it was literally like hearing a heart break in two."
The female didn't say anything for several moments as she fully comprehended his solemn words. She couldn't imagine the overwhelming distress you must have experienced after hearing Newt's revelation. "Was it Newt who explained what happened?"
Graves suddenly laughed- not a jovial sound. The bitterness that laced his voice was undeniably noticable. In the settled quiet, his laugh ripped through the atmosphere, which caused Tina to flinch in shock. "You are kidding?" his tone returned to more of a stern hiss, as opposed to the softer whisper he had earlier adopted. "The man was so flustered by (y/n)'s screaming, I could hardly get a coherant word out of him." he cleared his throat and then continued to tell his recount in a less harsh tone. "(Y/N) explained what had happened after I managed to stop them screaming. Newt just stood there, darkening the doorway, looking like an ashamed school boy." he paused. "Am I violent man, Tina?"
His sudden question confused the young woman but she decided to answer Graves, rather than ask more enquiries. "I wouldn't say so, no."
"Good because I don't wanting you thinking ill of me but when I discovered what he had done, it truly took all of my restraint to stop me from punching him in the face, repeatedly."
She wasn't surprised by Graves's confession. Tina too felt an overwhelming anger towards the Scamander male. However, the female had more of a passive agressive approach to dealing with her anger, so she decided that it was a good time to start making the cocoa she had promised to both you and Queenie. "So where is he now?"
The male observed as Tina began to make the delicious hot beverage. He leant against the counter edge and folded his arms across his chest. "I didn't think it wise for him to be in close proximity to Miss Lestrange, so he's currently residing in a holding cell."
The new piece of information caused Tina to pause, she stared at the male, unsure quite how to react. "Is that even legal?"He merely shrugged. "I didn't know what else to do. I thought it might do him so good to spend some time in a cold cell."
"Aren't you worried about being perceived as harsh?"
"No, Tina, I'm not."
"What about Leta?"
"She's under house arrest."
"Okay, now that is definitely not something you're allowed to do, Graves."
"You say it's illegal, I say it's neutralising a situation that could have aroused further suspicion from the surrounding no-maj community."
Stirring a mixture of ingredients in a milk pan, Tina couldn't help but voice her main concern. "I just can't believe he did such a thing, it's just so not like him."
"You think so too?"
"Anyone who knows him well would think so."
"So I'm right to entertain the notion that there could be a chance of foul play?"
She nodded in agreement. "You mean on Leta's part?"
"Absolutely."
Pouring the finished beverage into four cersmic mugs, Tina placed the used pan into the sink for washing later. "I'm just glad it was you who arrived at their home and not one of your collegues."
"So am I, Tina. So am I."****
