Realism.

Noun
The quality of being very much like real life. The quality of seeming to be real.
Synonyms: verisimilitude, literalism.

Ignorance towards the meaning of this word is now an invalid excuse.

On a more serious note, what is up with the unrealistic scenarios?

Like the dude fighting a venti* while making breakfast and reading the newspaper, all the while continuing a seemingly effortless conversation about polar bear mating habits.

?

Sorry, but I missed the part where said 'dude' had a stunt double.

抖阴社区rs, I know you want to make your character as awesome as humanly possible, but there is a limit. You gotta draw the line somewhere.

In a fictitious world where people have one elemental affinity each, your character suddenly has five?
Sure, low chances, but it's possible. The power of imagination.

But, said character who just realized his affinities, takes on an army of one thousand warriors (slight, slight exaggeration) on his/her own, and defeats 'em all, without any prior guidance whatsoever?

Fat chance.

Really, that won't make your character likable, in fact, people like me will spend their time ranting about how that is so not possible, everything is a hoax and the world is a scam.

Make your character cool, but don't forget to make them relatable, too. A psychological effect called the Pratfall Effect states that a persons likability will increase if they aren't perfect.

So stop trying to make your character perfect.

*Not a Starbucks reference, look up venti in Greek mythology.

P.S. Special thanks to the lovely Webster's dictionary for its impeccable definitions.

Lots of love,
A kind of confused still_awesome.
