I stared at my boyfriend Daniel and studied him. Sure he was attractive, popular, and smart but what did I really see in him? We started dating a year ago and I was still unclear of how I felt about him.

Daniel looked up and caught me staring at him. He smiled.

I quickly turned my head as I blushed and hope he didn't see.

"I love it when you blush" he said. He leaned in to kiss me but got interrupted by a loud bang. It was my mom.

"Bertha you better open this damn door before I knock it down"

I felt my daily headache come back. My mom was so ghetto and I was glad it didn't rub off on me. I started to head for the door but stopped when I noticed that Daniel was still in the room. That was a huge problem. The rules were no boys allowed and I'm pretty sure Daniel was a boy.

Daniel knew what to do and so he started to climb out my bedroom window.

"Little girl, Ima give you 3 seconds to open this door before I whoop yo ass!"

I knew I was already in so much trouble but I waited until Daniel got out of the window before I opened the door. When I did, all I felt was a slap in the face.

"Bitch, you had a boy up in your room didn't you?! You need to be taught some manners and respect cause aint no Lil girl gonna be living in my house thinking she's grown!" my mom snapped.

"It was only a friend" I said.

I knew she heard fear in my voice and she liked it. I was scared of my mother. Always have, and always will be. Ever since my father left her when I was a month old, she instantly grew to hate and torment me.

Just then, my mom punched my mouth hard and I felt my jaw rearrange. The side of my face ached with pain and the inside of my mouth was bleeding.

"I aint gonna have no whore walking around and sneaking boys up to her room. Who the hell do you think I am?! You've got the wrong one Honey!"

My mother continued.

"Now get yo lazy ass up and go clean the house" she hollered behind her as she walked away.

"I HATE YOU!" I angrily blurted out.

I was sick and tired of that woman constantly controlling my life 24/7 just because she didn't have one. Just because someone she loved left her, She's been controlling me and ordering me around like I was her pet. If I was such a pain in her ass, she should've game me to my Father.

"What did you say?!"

My mom started coming back towards my room in a quick pace. When she was inches from the door I slammed it in her face and locked it.

I heard her curse behind the door.

"You're pathetic just like your dead beat dad." She said as she sucked her teeth and laughed.

I rolled my eyes.

I couldn't stay in this house any longer. I climbed out of my window and left from the back of the house so she wouldn't see me.

I put my hoodie on my head, put my hands in my pocket, and started to walk. It was warm but chilly outside. As I walked slowly on the sidewalk, I looked at people as they walked by and noticed they were watching me back. To avoid being seen by neighborhood friends, I hung my head as I walked.

Oomph!

I fell hard to the ground.

What happened?

"Watch where you're going freak" a girl sneered. She had long brown hair and brown eyes. Her skin glistened in the sun which made the marks on her neck stick out. I gasped.
