I was reading a book i found on the ship late at night when i thought i saw a slender long shadow move across the porthole next to my bed. i looked over and out the window to find nothing there, it was a dark and rainy night for our fifth day on the open blue seas. the first day of sailing was quite the experience watching so many new sea creatures swimming next to our ship. i saw a giant whale with a dolphins tail once. the first day had also been really sunny and nice out, unlike today where it had done nothing but rain. after the third or fourth day of sailing i got kinda bored looking at the same old half fish half cat swimming next to us. they were real catfish. the boat kept tipping back and forth sliding the barrels in the room as the waves got bigger. i closed my book and turned off the light once i was next to the door and headed outside. i put on a raincoat that was lying in the hall leading up to the top deck of the ship. the ship on the outside was coated with white paint stretched all across the entire side and even the bottom half was white. the only parts of the ship outside that weren't white were the railings to keep people from falling out of the ship when it starts rocking like it was now. the interior was just the regular wood they used on the exterior, but not painted. there were four rooms in the interior of the ship, the kitchen/storage room, the twins room, Gurd's room, and my room the supplies room is also what they used it for. i made my way up to the top of the deck to see what was going on when i heard Gurd further up on the steering wheel of the ship yelling "GET OUT OF THERE! IT'S DANGEROUS TO BE ABOVE DECK NOW!" i could barely hear what he said the first time and asked him "WHAT DID YOU SAY?" he moved his hand pointing down to signal to do below deck again. i went down when Wix came flying full speed out of our room and knocking herself into me. she seemed a little winded and came back to reality after saying she was seeing her faerie friends dancing around her. she rushed back up into the air with a more serious face on and said "i remember hearing a story about a dangerous sea beast that appears along this ocean when it rains heavily like!" "so? does that mean every time?" "no, but i heard from one of the towns folk that rainstorms had been occurring a lot more frequently now. making it very dangerous to travel across the seas. most dare not go." Wix said nervous. she shivered at the thought of whatever this beat was. Wix and i went above deck again and went up to where Gurd was steering and asked him if he knew about this beast. "aye, it has been terrorizing sailors since the first creature to ever sail the ocean." "it's a very powerful creature and can't be killed through any normal methods like, shooting a harpoon through it, or getting it caught in a net." Gurd said. we continued through the stormy night with the waves getting even worse by the minute. i could tell Gurd was having a hard time making the ship turn now even with his strength. i decided to give him a hand and Wix even tried helping, but she couldn't do much with her size and all. we kept sailing a few more hours when i thought i saw something sort of slither past the deck. "there it is again." i said. "what?" Gurd asked. "i've been noticing since before i first went up here that some long slender black 'thing' has been moving around the ship, mostly outside." i said. "well maybe it's the monster, perhaps the stories are more true than we could hope for." Gurd said enthusiastically. i let Gurd take the wheel and suddenly the ship jerked left and stayed moving straight without both our strength the ship couldn't be steered at the moment. the waves were crashing against our ship now forcing it to tilt even more now. as i made it to lower part of the upper deck i was forced to fall slowly sliding with the tilt of the ship. i quickly held on to the railings to keep myself from falling off and once the ship tilting to the left now i started falling to the other side. i grabbed the other sides railings. the ship seemed to level out again for the moment, and looked up to see Gurd up against the side and trying to get back up. i turned to face the front of the ship and saw a black figure rise from just ahead of us blocking our path. the figure was in the shape of a squid and realized what they were talking about now. The Kraken. it had long tentacles for arms and a pointy triangle head with two eyes sticking out underneath the triangle. it's tentacles seemed to form a bit of a beard look and using it's beady eyes it began to swipe the deck with one of it's tentacles trying to knock anyone off who was on board. as the tentacle swiped closer from left to right and back i grew anxious of waiting for it to notice me. i stood there frozen on the deck looking at this 11 story tall squid trying to kill us. i finally snapped out of my amazement and made my sword and shield appear from below deck in my room to fight the giant beast. "whoa, i didn't know humans knew how to use magic!" Gurd said. i looked back to see Wix talking to him about something, but i didn't have time to talk when the kraken's tentacle was only a foot away from me now ready to give one last swipe. as the tentacle came close on my right i took my sword and began using both arms with all my current strength to begin pushing the krakens arm back. i used my powers to max my human capabilities to as far as i could get them to go. i had started to push the arm back, finally when another one of the krakens limbs came over to try and catch me. i looked back to see nothing but blackness for a few seconds and then i was standing on the krakens tentacle. the beast looked at me with sympathy and seemed in pain. i tried to figure out what could be the problem with this creature when i saw a bright flash of purple lightning strike in the background. the kraken seemed to jump scared of what was behind him, i looked to see a dark storm cloud much different than the rest. the storm cloud began swirling as we approached underneath it and started forming down spinning like a tornado. the cloud engulfed the kraken flinging me back onto the deck with Wix yelling "are you alright!" "yeah!" i yelled back scratching my butt. i got up and watched how the kraken in pain became corrupt and it's yellow beady eyes become an angry dark shade of purple. the kraken slapped the deck causing the ship to lean forward almost throwing me off the boat. i used my powers to cause me to float for awhile so i didn't have to deal with swimming. i gripped my sword tight and began charging toward the kraken at full speed. i first attempted to use my powers to lift the cloud spell off the kraken, but nothing worked. when i got close to the head of the beast i ran my sword around it trying to knock off the cap of it first. the head seemed to heal itself back together even when i made my blade infused with the capability to cut anything and make the object stay cut forever. i tried slicing it up into tiny pieces using my speed and sheathing my sword back on the deck, however it reformed and slapped the once again balanced boat forward again. i got up back into the air higher and higher past the clouds trying to think of how i would kill this beast. i knew it didn't mean any harm before now, however i couldn't seem to find a way to lift that curse. i dove downward directly on top of the krakens head and pierced through it straight down the middle. it did nothing however as it swatted me away like a fly. i tried thinking of any other ways i could fight this beast, but came up with nothing. i noticed shortly after nearly giving up, that an odd green glow was coming off of the back of the kraken. "a weakness!" i thought. i flew around the side of the kraken and drove my sword right into the glow. the kraken suddenly felt pain through it's entire body, the purple cloud around the kraken began to dissipate and retreat back up in the sky clearing the storm away. the kraken fell forward and began to slowly move it's tentacle up to give me a sign of thank you before it began to dissipate as well. "i couldn't save the kraken without killing it after all, huh?" i said mourning the death of someone who i could never call a friend. Wix flew up next to me with Gurd on the other side and said "well, at least it can be in peace." then the two boys came running up from below the deck as playful as ever and began asking excitedly "are we there yet? are there yet?" Gurd looked to them with a big smile on his face and said "yes, sons we're at our new home!" pointing to the floating island directly ahead of us. "whoa!" i said. the size of the island was beyond measurable for a 15 year old like me. i could only see the waterfalls that were constantly running down the sides of the island and underneath with all of the sharp rocky spikes sticking out of the bottom of the floating island. "how do we get up there?" i asked. "we sail of course!" Gurd exclaimed. i was on my way to see what this kingdom had in store for me.
