"you know thinking about it now, Wix i don't think i thought my plan through cafefully. there were two problems i might run into. one: i wasn't taking into account this planet was round and not flat on a map, we could have landed in the ocean and anywhere other than where i wanted us to go! my other problem is if this is the right place that i don't know how welcoming humans are to a stranger?" i said surrounded by both men and women in camo gear with guns and swords all pointed at me from the bushes and beside trees. i had my hands up to show surrender, but they all kept staring at me until one new person wearing blue camo and not green camo came up to me and ordered them all to stand down. "well, looks like we got a new arrival. you go inform the headmistress of this immediately." the girl said pointing at a scrawny goof ball looking kid. the kid saluted saying "yes sir." and stumbled back into the forest. "lousy kid has no talent at all to be in war." the girl mumbled looking at the floor. she brought her eyes to my shoes and worked her way up to my head. "you don't look like you're with an alliance, must be a loner." she deduced. "what brings you here loner?" the girl asked. "it's hard to explain can i just.." i lowered my arms and everyone surrounding me raised their weapons on me startling me to put my hands back up. "it's all right everyone he's harmless and outnumbered stand down and return to your posts pronto." the girl said calming everyone down instantly. "now let us take this up with the head mistress, she's in charge here." the girl said. "what are you? this is obviously replicating a standard army with probably a few exceptions." i asked. "well you're a quick thinker that's for sure. would love it if you joined us in our cause, but i suppose someone like you would refuse. anyway i'm called chief around here." chief said. "you're right i won't be joining your cause, simply because i don't care enough to do so. but that's not the point i came here for.." i said as the chief put her finger on my mouth shouting me up and watching as everyone got into two lines on each side a sliding door. a woman dressed like royalty with red and white robes too big for the woman. she walked with her hands out in the air with a smile and seemed like almost everyone but me and the chief were being calmed down and in an odd state, i could only think of one thing she was making everyone around her fall in love with her. everyones eyes and mouths drooled with joy. "why aren't you and i affected?" i whispered to the chief. "i know why i am, i used a counter to the head mistress's curse. but you didn't even she had one did you?" she asked. "no, i suppose I've always been like that though. never really finding anyone attractive. so yeah everyone seems like their in a trance and we're the only ones not affected huh?" i asked. "looks like it." the chief said taking off her helmet and bowing down to the woman in front of me. "my, who is this? another person able to ward of my curse?" the woman said as she held a hand to her mouth looking surprised. she had a bit of a high pitched voice and seemed well mannered as well. her fingernails were painted red, she also had orange dyed hair. she seemed to have a smile that looked very suspicious too. "well, follow me to my office for what you have to discuss." the woman said leaving back into the door that she just came through. i followed her along with the chief into a hallway with a bunch of gas leaking out of pipelines along the wall and garage doors and many other machines and objects i couldn't describe very well. we made our way to the exit after having to deal with so much gas that smelled even worse than the fire i had once come across. "welcome to my office." the woman said turning to face us and sat down in her chair. i made a seat appear for myself and the chief did the same. i told them what i had been doing up until now, leaving out some of the more harder to say parts. when i was done the woman now paying close attention with her tone now in a more serious and adult voice. "first let me tell you my name it's Samantha II." Samantha said. "now what do you need of us? why come here?" she asked. "i need help to break into Crossed Lines. they took someone for some reason and although i would have stayed out of it, I've been attack by their members twice and on top of that some guy in a white suit nearly killed me and took the girl i was with. i think that is more than enough reason to get payback on them." i said pounding my fists together, a loud earthquake came out of nowhere for a few seconds. "well, looks like someone doesn't know how to keep their powers in check." Samantha said smiling seductively. "and why should i give you my forces, HM?" she asked lowering her head near the desk with her legs crossed and the back of her hand under her chin keeping her head from falling. i hadn't noticed it before, but she changed her outfit into a costume that reminded probably anyone who saw her as a Jessica rabbit, she had a red dress on and make-up and long black hair now. "what? don't like the new look?" she said trying to seduce me. "now i know why the men are here fighting for her cause. but what about the chief? and the women who acted like the men?" i thought keeping all of my thoughts to myself was hard when any human can use their powers to read it. i kept an image of a cord cut in half from letting Samantha read my mind. "aw. don't be like that." she said giving a puppy dog face. "look i only need two of your best fighters they don't have to be number one, but they better be damn good at fighting. i'm going to war." i said pounding my fist on Samantha's desk causing the desk to shake a little. "watch it kid or i'll have to cut your throat." chief said from behind she was grabbing on to me tightly and holding a curved edged knife in her hands. the knife was in the shape of the moon and the hole on one side was what was keeping the knife further from my neck. i relaxed my muscles and calmed down, suddenly i took chiefs arm and grabbed her knife pulling it up to her neck. "i'm not here to wage war against two powerful organizations just one okay?" i asked. we both let each other go when i noticed a battle scar going down the middle of her left side down her neck. i decided not to say anything about it and we continued our conversation. "so, two huh? that's all you need? you seriously think Crossed Lines will be easy with just two other people and yourself?" Samantha asked. "yes, i guarantee that is has an 85% chance of winning." i said. although it was a lie, chances were it was more of a 50/50 chance of success or less. she looked at me closely and backed off. she agreed with a sigh of boredom now holding her hand over her face trying to keep herself from falling asleep. "you know men who are not attracted to others are normally not attractive themselves right?" Samantha asked as i began leaving out the door. i turned my head back to see her grow a smile "normally." she repeated as i backed up from the door and turned around with chief behind me taking me to meet the team i would be leading. we walked into another i thought it seemed strange at first with just four tan futuristic cubbyholes with ladders leading to the top of them. two cubbyholes on each side of the room they looked a little big like someone could fit a person in them. i saw a pink towel on top of one of them to the left. we walked in closer as i heard a shower being turned off and suddenly a door was revealed from the wall opening like a bank vault and a woman wrapped in towels was standing there singing. she had her eyes closed at first, but when she opened them to see me standing in front of her she blinked processing the situation we were in for a few seconds then began screaming and took a pillow i hadn't noticed before in the cubbyholes and threw it directly at my face. she kept going side to side throwing pillows at me for a few moments while i stood there lifeless not budging an inch. i probably did't look amused either. after awhile the girl calmed down as i turned away saying sorry calmly and letting her get dressed. "why did you let a man into one of the girls rooms when you knew i and Mai would be taking showers!?" the girl asked the chief as she got dressed. "i wanted him to get used to seeing you girls and get a feel for your personalities since you'll be accompanying him on a side mission. also i wanted to see his reaction, i was unimpressed." chief said getting a big sadistic smile on her face. not the kind I've seen before though, this wasn't a smile that said 'i'm gonna enjoy torturing you!' it was the kind of smile that said 'i'm gonna enjoy ruining you're reputation and make your normal life a living hell!' both very similar. when the girl was done i turned around only to have another girl step out of the shower and stare at me. this girl was very different unlike the other who was blond and had a bit of a 'big chest' the other had black hair and a 'flat' chest. the blonde looked like she was seeing me as an animal or something, while the other just simply said "hi." quietly and took a nap in one of the cubbyholes. "so, these two have either watched some anime. or are the very definition of stereotypes?" i whispered into the chiefs ear. she seemed to quietly laugh and then replied quietly "my bets on number 2." chief clapped her hands together and the two girls instantly got up fully dressed and ready for action saluting. "alright listen, you'll be going away for a while to help this man out. he thinks just the three of you will be enough to take down one of Crossed Lines bases. he also is going there to rescue someone he knows. so play nice with him and follow his orders. ladies you're going to war." chief said leaving us three in the same room together. "so? what do you want us to do sir?" the blonde asked. "first of all i'm not a sir i have a name i'm Jake. second i think i'd better get to know both of you and your skills and flaws. judging by your guys performance with the incident i have an idea of what your flaws may be." i said sounding official. "right my names Sora." the blonde said perky. "and my names Mai." the other girl said quietly and yawning. "alright then Sora, Mai, i'm gonna scan you for your skills." i said holding my hand up to my head as a laser came out of my left eye again and scanned the two girls as info popped up. "seems i can only get so much knowledge, figures when coming up with this power during battle." i whispered to myself. "who're you talking to?" sora asked. "no one." i said focusing on the info. "alright looks here like Sora? you're specialty is controlling animals, and personality is..wow okay i did not expect that then." i said pausing my scan for a moment. "what? what did you read?" she asked. "nothing." i said returning to my scan. "okay..whoa that's a lot of info there Mai. okay let's see here specialty:unkown? personality:unknown?..wait everything here says unknown or error?" i said looking up at Mai confused. she just stared at me even more emotionless than i am when i use my powers. "man you're like a statue huh?" i said getting no response. "don't worry about her she'll be fine. after all they wouldn't have picked us if they didn't think we could be enough right?" Sora said laughing suspiciously. "actually.." i told them what had happened in the office as the Sora became depressed huddled into a corner. i may have told them my real estimation too. suddenly chief walked in the room after eavesdropping on us. "well, looks like you lied to not only me, but the headmistress as well. impressive since there was no mind she couldn't get into. except for me of course, and now i guess you huh?" chief said leaning against the door. "gonna die, gonna die, die, die." Sora said still huddled into a corner. "so when do we start?" Mai asked unfazed and still talking quietly and slowly. "well once I've gotten a proper plan together i'll be figuring out the timing from there. but i do know that it has to be before 3 days from now." i said. "why's that?" chief asked. "because by then they could have done every interrogation method they could think of, if they take their time to think about ones they didn't of before once all the ones they tried didn't work. they need information on the thing you guys are guarding here." i said. "guarding? we're guarding something?" Sora asked. "only chief and i know about it. a lot of the higher ups only know we were guarding something, not what it is. if they wanted someone they should've kidnapped one of us." chief said. "obviously not, she told me herself. they were after her because of some legend. except she kept getting angry saying 'they only know half of the legend' paraphrasing of course." i said. "hm? looks like we have a big mystery on our hands huh?" Samantha said suddenly revealing herself in the room. instantly Sora began being brainwashed by the sight of Samantha, and Mai looked as stiff as a rock still with no emotion, but had a drool in her mouth like sora. "ohmygod! headmisstress..you're..here!" Sora said gasping and squeeling. "okay now calm down girls." Samantha said. "you know you're curse is actually kind of cruel to other people, but also yourself." i said. "how so? and also aren't you one to talk sending a man into a state of death. only able to reverse the 'deed' by your own hand?" Samantha asked. "how did you!?" i asked shocked. "i also make sure i have scouts all over the world keeping me informed on whats been going on since i rarely get the chance to leave." Samantha said. "i bet Crossed Lines have done the same." she added. "well i'll let these two get some rest to process what is about to go down." i said. suddenly i felt squirming in my pocket as a tiny female head popped up. "Jake! don't leave me in here to suffocate! let me know when i can come out once in a while!" Wix said. i had completely forgotten she hid in my pocket when we were ambushed. "awww. who's this little cutie? a faerie?" Samantha asked petting the top of Wix's head. "thank you." Wix said crossing her arms with a hmph. "sorry, she somehow knows when someone is spelling fairy right or wrong. in fact even though she's been with me since i got here, we met each other while arguing about what the correct spelling was." i said. "and i won." wix said opening her eye to see everyone. "wix how about you stay in these girl's room until morning okay?" Samantha said calmly. "no. I've gotten used to sleeping in Jake's pocket it's quite comfy! once you get used to your neck stiffening." wix said rubbing the back or her neck. "i think you need some better rest after these couple of days. we haven't slept apart from each other since we made it to layrule by flying boat." i said. "flying boat? did you by any chance run into Gurd and his wife?" chief asked. "well you see.." i explained more of what happened during the fire. "oh..i see.." chief said turning away and leaving. "chief had once been good friends with Gurd's wife, they actually used to be loners like you. once they met they traveled the entire planet together sharing laughs and enjoying each others company. one day they came upon a village and the one girl fell in love with the man known as Gurd. chief had been wondering why she stopped sending her messages through the brain." Samantha said. we were outside the two girl's room talking quietly while we let Wix and the others sleep. "that doesn't make any sense? i saw the corpse first hand and their children looked like the 'ones' their eye lids blinked sideways. if the mother was human i would've known it." i said. "let me explain the rest first. after a time Gurd and his new wife had settled down into an apartment and remained living there for until the fire. but in order to make sure her family was not hunted down and killed as Crossed Lines would've got a hold of her and killed her family she gave up her humanity changing her race and losing her powers in the process." Samantha explained. "well, it worked for awhile. but utterly failed as she went insane for some reason and now she's dead anyway. Gurd and their twins were at layrule last time i saw them. that was days ago though." i said yawning. "we'll pick this up tomorrow i'll have chief once she's done mourning to show you to our guest room." Samantha said. "nah. it's cool let her mourn for tonight, after all i may be heartless, but i'm not so insensitive to not think how others feel. i'll sleep in the forest outside this base here." i said. "i figured you wouldn't want to sleep out there. after all there are a lot of vicious beasts far more dangerous than the ones you've face before." Samantha said starting to walk down to her office. "yeah, well it's good practice then!" i shouted down the echoing hallway. i put my hands in my pockets and began walking back to the front entrance, which was a big vault door spinning and opening to the outside. i rested up against a tree near the door as i heard sounds of multiple beasts roaring all at once. "this is gonna be a long night." i thought keeping one eye open while i slept.
