"You what?" He asked in disbelief.
"I'm sorry, I wish I did. I-"
"No. Stop right there," he said stepping back, tears forming at the bottom of his eyes. "I know it's been a hard time for you, but this sucks."
"Please, I-"
"It's fine," he said and smiled half-heartedly. Behind his smile, I could tell that inside he was tearing apart. "It was a mistake."
"I'll just pack up my things," I said and hopped off the counter. I walked straight past him. I turned back around and noticed that he hadn't moved a muscle. I sighed and continued walking.
"Thank you again for last night."
"It's fine," he croaked.
I quickly gathered my things and stuffed them into my bag. Before I left, I stopped and glanced back at Alex. He had now pulled out a dining table chair and had his head in his hands. I had no words for him, so I let the door slam shut behind me.
A loud sob escaped my mouth as I walked to Jaspers car. I rested my head on the steering wheel and the dam behind my eyes had cracked, sending the tears to flow freely. Alex would always be my shoulder to cry on. I wasn't so sure if he would ever forgive me, judging by his reaction. I pulled out of his driveway, and sped home.
~~~~~~
I stepped inside and dropped my bag.
"Hey, how was your night?" Jasper asked, his eyes glued to the screen where the latest episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians was on.
"Wonderful," I said before stomping off into my room.
"That's good to hear," Jasper called after my door slammed shut.
I dove on top of the covers on my bed and groaned.
"Someone's having a good day," Jasper said standing in my doorway.
"Leave!"
"Please don't tell me you're pregnant,"
"What makes you think I'm pregnant?"
"Well, pregnant girls are always moody." He walked into my room and sat on the end of my bed.
"So are girls on their periods."
"Are you either?" He said scrunching his nose, preparing for the worst.
"No, Jasp," I laughed.
"Ha! I made you smile. Now, tell me what's wrong."
When we were younger, we would always try to make the other person smile when they're having a bad day. If they would smile or laugh the slightest, they'd have to spill the beans.
"Fine!" I groaned.
"Yay!" He squealed. "Come on. Your therapist is waiting."
"Alex . . . likes me."
"What do you mean by that?"
"He, like likes me."
"Do you like like him back?" He asked mimicking my voice.
"No."
"Oh, come on!" He yelled and slammed his hand on the bed. "I was already naming your future children. I can't wait to be an uncle."
"So you want me to get pregnant?" I joked raising an eyebrow.
"No!" He yelled which caused me to burst into laughter. "Just finish your studies, get married, live in a mansion and then you can have kids."
