"What? How?" I asked my eyebrows creasing together.

"I kept on falling asleep in the break room." He rubbed his hands over his face, sitting down on the couch.

"Jasp," I sighed, sitting down next to him and rested my head in his shoulder. "We'll figure something out."

"Really? Because I don't know how we're going to cope when we're both jobless."

"I told you, I can get a job at the cinema it's no big deal."

"No. Because I don't want you to be like me. I want you to do something with your life."

"At least I didn't drop out of Year ten."

"Touché."

"So," Dakota stepped in. "what're we going to do?"

After about an hour and a half of discussing and brainstorming ideas about how he could get his job back, we ended up with nothing. Zilch. Nada. Niente. Any other word in any fricken language.

Before I went to bed, I opened my laptop and searched for jobs nearby. There was a couple of openings down at Flix and another one in the pizza parlour. A couple of shops had available slots just waiting to be filled. I took a screenshot of all the ones I thought Jasper would be interested in.

When the clock signified that the time was twelve thirty-four, I decided to let my mind rest for the next day at school.

It was finally the day of the callbacks. I was so nervous. Nervous to the point Xavier was trying to stop my hand from shaking so much.

"Is this normal?" I asked him worriedly.

"Totally," he said reassuringly. A girl wearing a headset walked in to the changing room and informed us that there was two minutes until,we were meant to go on. "You'll be fine."

The words that came out of my mouth seemed more rushed than expected. "What if I'm not? What if I mess up? Or what if I trip on my own feet? Or get chocked up on my own words? Or what if-"

"Hush, princess." He wrapped me in a hug and kissed the top of my head. "You'll do great. I can feel it."

"But what if the other pair is just as good as us?"

"Then, bad luck. We'll try again next time."

The girl walked in again. "You're on in one minute. Is everything okay?"

I looked down at my hand and noticed it had stopped shaking. Well, not as much as before, but it was barely noticeable. I didn't know he had this sort of affect on me.

"Yeah." I nodded. "Let's do this."

We walked on stage after some of the crew attached small microphones and wires to our clothes. Miss Mulberry was sitting on a table directly in front of the stage along with a couple of other drama teachers. A small lamp illuminated their desk. In the audience, Alex, Julia, Elliot and Taylor were clapping wildly and whistling before they were silenced. A large group of girls were in one corner, taking photos of their shoes propped up on one of the seats or a couple of selfies. The other pair auditioning were seated in the front row, eyeing us carefully.

The pair that made it through were Kylie and Jason.

I had all of my fingers and toes crossed, hoping that we were good enough to get the part.

"You guys did so well," Taylor congratulated as we came to sit down next to them in the audience. All throughout the audition, the girls were talking loudly and received a few glares from the judges and my group. I mixed up my lines a couple of times, but I didn't think that they were that noticeable for the girls to discourage me with 'boo's' and 'get off the stage, you suck'.
