Chapter 34- Wrong Test Room, Lauriel

Start from the beginning

Dr Kozak's eyes didn't leave Lauriel's for a while, and vice versa, that was until he fake smiled at her then laughed, but Lauriel couldn't tell whether his laugh was fake or not.

It was hard to tell in this particular scenario.

"Okay. I've got to admit, what you said was kind of amusing but you should never mess with Agent Valentina. She's my sister, plus she could torment you to death sometimes. I know from experience."

Lauriel didn't reply.
At least, straight away anyway.

"But you're alive?" She pointed out. "And yeah yeah yeah. I understand that bit now. Although you didn't really answer my question. What are you doing here? See, they've already started the test now."

Dr Kozak turned red, before looking down at his iPad in fascination. Afterwards, without warning Lauriel whatsoever, he took her hand and dragged her into a more private and confidential place, despite it still being in the same room.

Room Seventeen.

"Kid. There's been a mix up," was all Dr Kozak said to her at the private place (the room opposite where the dead bodies were kept).

"Mix up?" Lauriel repeated really loudly for the whole world to hear.

Dr Kozak nodded shamefully.
"Yep. Mix up. I believe that was what I said. Let's just say that I might have kind of sort of accidentally sent you off into the wrong room."

Lauriel physically and mentally lost it then.

She screamed at him, stepping on him, making Dr K startled, because he never really knew she could have talked that loudly before.

"Why would you do that? This was on purpose wasn't it? You're sabotaging my chances of becoming a spy."

Not that she wanted to be anyway, but she didn't really have a choice, did she? No, she didn't.

Dr Kozak had to admit, he felt quite awful, despite being kind of mad at Lauriel for accusing him of doing something he didn't do at the same time.

"Lauriel. Lauriel, stop jumping to conclusions and listen to me."

He turned her body to face him but Lauriel wouldn't do that, so he did things the hard way.

He carried her, and as if she was supposed to be doing a backflip, he flipped her over until she was properly facing him, and he made it so that Lauriel wouldn't turn her back to him by blocking Lauriel's pathway via his hands.

"You're going to listen, and you're going to listen good. I did not do this on purpose. Believe me, it's not easy marking tests for 2 hours straight. I was tired, okay? Worst of all, I think I've lost both my photographic memory and my mind reading skills."

Gee that's a bummer, Lauriel thought to herself sarcastically, then stopped thinking sarcastic thoughts when she caught Dr Kozak glaring at her malevolently.

"Okay. Maybe I've only lost my photographic memory skill," he told her, still looking at her for a long time. "But seriously. You're not supposed to be in here right now."

"Oh really?" Lauriel retorted, scoffing and folding her arms in disbelief. "Then what room am I supposed to be in?"

Dr Kozak turned even more red before actually saying anything.

"You don't wanna know," he answered, making Lauriel glance at him in absolute irritation.

"...I mean, I'll tell you later. This is Agent Valentina's group. You're in Agent Astera's. The name tags were mixed up as well."

"I'm confused," Lauriel told him. "Why are there two different groups? And if I'm in the 'wrong group' according to you then why was my name in the register?"

Dr Kozak forced Lauriel to sit down, so she did, not that that was difficult because she couldn't stand up anyway. Valentina had threw her so hard she nearly died.

Plus her back hurt and it was really really painful anytime Lauriel wanted to sit down or stand up.

"Heh. Weird story. Turns out there's two Lauriels in KOZAHKISTAN HEADQUARTERS," he began. "And the number tags are in alphabetical order. Astera gave you number 77, didn't she? Well, you're number 93, out of a hundred. That 77 was for the other Lauriel she was dealing with before you showed up, but she got baffled, as always."

Lauriel didn't reply.

"And the different groups thing? Well, you see how I got my sons Agent Marcel and Tyrese to kidnap you? Then blah de blah blah you got ticked off at me for getting them to do that? Okay. So you see how agent Astera walked in, and I told her that she should lead you to the test? Yeah, you're in her group. I get different female agents each time to lead girls into the first test.. I can't explain stuff, I'm terrible at explaining... So sorry if this sounds perplexing."

Lauriel didn't reply.

"Anyway. Like I said, kid. You're really not supposed to be in here at the moment. We seriously need to leave."

Dr Kozak got up and opened the door, Lauriel still staying there.

It was when Dr Kozak was half in and half out of the room that Lauriel called him.

"Doctor Kozak...."

Dr Kozak had heard her but not completely, but either way, he headed inside.

He looked at her for about a nanosecond before saying something.

"Yes, Lauriel..."

"I can't stand up."

Lauriel was being genuinely serious. She couldn't stand up, this wasn't a joke.
Doctor Kozak just looked at her in the eyes for two seconds before rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, I kind of noticed that... What's your problem? What do you want me to do about it?"

Lauriel didn't reply, making Dr Kozak not do or say anything.

They were just staring at each other until Lauriel winked at him.

"What's the wink for..."

Lauriel did it again, whilst Dr Kozak still didn't get it.

Then...

He rolled his eyes once again once he found out what the wink meant.

"You want me to carry you don't you?"

"Correctamondo!"
