Alone

We ordered chicken burgers with fries and coco cola. We were currently sitting around a table which stood at the far end of the dining room beside a window.

"What would you like to become?" Nathan asked.

"A garbage collector." I said simply.

He looked at me, straight into my eyes. His faced was lined with confusion. He threw me a weird look. I gazed back into his eyes as I tried to hide my laughter. He did not respond for three minutes. I watched as he took a very large sip of his coco cola not daring to take his eyes off me. When He had finished the drink, He breathed out, "Are you serious?!"

Laughter escaped my lips immediately when I saw his confused face.

"No punk!" I managed to say through laughter.

He exhaled loudly as the confusion lines began to disappear from his perfect face. I smiled at him.

"Oh." He managed to say.

I smiled at his response and said, "I'm going to study law."

His face lit up as he gazed at me, "Wow, that's great. So I take it you want to be a lawyer. Baby girl that's where the big bucks come in."

I blushed at the nick name, "I know. Its going to take a lot of hard work and determination."

He nodded his head in agreement with me and stated, "I am going to study medicine for animals. I wanna be a veterinarian."

It was my time for my face to light up, "Oh my God! You love animals too?"

"Oh yes. Especially dogs. You know I have three dogs at home, one of them is a chihuahua and the other two are German shepherds." He answered.

"Nice. Sorry to say but I only have four pit bull dogs at my home. They're always so angry but they're close to me."

Nathan laughed and replied, "Pit bulls are scary dogs. Of course they will always be angry. Its in their nature."

I smiled at his sense of knowledge. He returned my smile and looked outside. He then turned his attention to me and spoke, "I'd like to take you somewhere else to spend the rest of the day."

"Where?"

"Let's go, you'll see."

He stood up and outstretched his hands for me to hold. I gladly took his offer and got up and we walked out of McDonalds to the place.

We began walking as we held each other's hands. The silence around was comfortable and I found myself smiling away like a damn lunatic at the way his hands felt so soft.

"We're here." He spoke.

"Oh my God. You took me to a beach. I haven't went swimming for a long time now."

"Well, I doubt  it if we're going to swim. We didn't bring any beachwear so I decided we could take a walk on the beach, maybe get our feet wet a little." He said.

"Sure, I'd love that."
