My eyes burned with a fire that was the need for sleep. However Justin couldn't sleep at all, so I guess neither would I. He rested his head in my lap for a little while as I ran my fingers through his hair until we both got uncomfortable and we switched positions.
I guess there wasn't much to talk about, so silence was what we remained in, until we both heard footsteps coming from down the hall.
"Rise and shine! Hope you had a good night's rest! Oh who am I kidding, you all obviously lept horribly!" We all glared at Oscar, I guess Splice as he paced up and down our corridors. "Anyways, you'll all have plenty of opportunities to rest up today. Eat up!" Splice slid four metal trays with bowls on them underneath the doors of their cells. Inside the bowls was what seemed to be some sort of porridge or oatmeal.
"I don't know about all of you, but I'm absolutely starving." Andrew shouted from across the hall.
"It just looks like regular porridge to me." I stated. And Andrew was right, I was pretty hungry. And Thanatos had stated he didn't want to kill us, it probably wasn't poisoned.
"If it's poisoned at least we'll all go down together right?" Clara called from across the way.
"Agreed." Justin stated.
Together, we all ate the porridge in unison, spoons held high. It tasted like normal, bland oatmeal, with maybe a little bit of honey.
"It tastes completely fine guys, despite being a little bland." I looked at the spoon, the sticky porridge remaining on parts of it. I licked the rest off until the spoon was clean of the porridge, and took another bite. "I don't know, but I'm going to keep eating."
"Same here. Food is food." Andrew and I dug into our porridge, while Justin and Clara did so more cautiously.
"Guys, I don't feel so good." Clara stated, rising to her feet. I peered out from around the bars of my cell to see her teetering in hers, the bowl in one hand, the other holding onto the bars of the door.
"My head hurts," Justin started saying.
My head hurt too. Everything started going dizzy and my vision spun and spun, until my eyes focused on Splice, still standing there at the edge of the hallway.
"I would never do something so obvious as to poison your food. I simply laced the spoons." He seemed so pleased with himself, and I would have made a snarky remark, except everything was now spinning so fast.
"Andrew!" Clara cried out. And sure enough, he was out cold, the bowl of porridge spilling it's contents all over the cold stone floor.
Next, Justin fell. He slumped over where he was on the ground, his head falling into my lap. Then Clara, and soon I was the only one left. Everything constantly spinning, black, fog, breathe, porridge, the stone walls, blackness, spinning, and then nothing.

I woke up and immediately started to panic, completely forgetting where I was. It was then that I remembered what had happened. Splice gave us some porridge, with spoons laced with something that knocked us all out. But where were we now?
I sat up and removed the blankets that were piled high on top of me. I was dressed in a traditional hospital gown, except instead of a plain dress, this one had a weird flap that laid right over my stomach. The flap was down, thankfully, because I noticed Justin, Andrew, and Clara laying in similar hospital beds, but they were both still asleep.
Attempting to get out of bed didn't work. I threw off the rest of the covers and swung my right leg over the edge but the rest of me didn't follow. This resulted with me ending up face first on the ground. I was partially upside-down, face smushed onto the floor, one leg up in the air. Now I was really glad the boys weren't awake, because my gown had fallen over my head in a very unflattering manner. Thankfully I was able to pull myself back onto my bed.
