"I. Hate. The. Cold." I grunted through my teeth as the snow soaked into my blanket and made my toes tingle.

Step by step, each frozen foot was placed in front of each other. My body ached and shook after even a few steps.

Clara led the pack, pushing on ahead as she bravely trudged forward, calculating the best paths and footholds as we navigated the rocky terrain. Andrew slowly hobbled along behind her, stooped over, seeming to be in a lot of pain.

Justin had given me one of his blankets, for which I was grateful for. Now he only had one flimsy blanket wrapped around his toned shoulders. He stumbled along behind me, seeming to miss the footholds that Clara had created on our makeshift path. He didn't have blankets wrapped around his feet anymore, and his bare toes looked to be perfectly fine despite the temperature around us.

"Ali!" He panted, calling my name. "Ali can we, can we rest for a little bit?" Immediately I knew something was wrong. He was breathing heavily and beads of sweat were pouring down his forehead onto his bare chest.

"Hey guys," I called out to Clara and Andrew. "Can we rest for a minute?" We had been walking, trudging along for what seemed like hours. With nothing but the light of the stars and fading moon to guide us. It didn't help and we had all fallen at least several times individually as we tried to navigate our way through the snow covered mountain/

We sat down on a rock that was (thankfully) not covered in snow. And I immediately laid back and closed my eyes. Sleep teased at our dreams but we knew we could not rest, or we might not ever wake up again. I willed myself to stay awake. But probably would anyways due to the piercing temperatures.

"Get this off of me!" Justin exclaimed. He scrambled around and threw his remaining blanket off of his shoulders. We all stared at him as if he was insane, which wouldn't surprise me for any of us.

"Justin," I calmly stated. He layed back in the snow, and I noticed what appeared to be steam, or smoke literally rising off of him. It rose up his hands and curled off of his toes. He appeared to be literally radiating heat. "Justin, it can't be more than thirty degrees up here and you're hot?" Well I mean he was, I thought, but something was definitely wrong.

"Maybe he has hypothermia." Clara suggested. "I'm not entirely sure but once you reach hypothermia and it worsens you stop shivering. Your body could be so confused it doesn't know how to function."

"I don't have hypothermia!" He said, a little more harshly than he should have. Clara shrunk back, hurt. "I'm just, I'm just hot." he shot up from where he was lying on the ground, the snow now a puddle of water revealing the dirt and rocks underneath. "I don't know, not even my feet are cold!" He threw up his hands in the air in frustration.

A surprising wall of heat washed over my face, causing my eyes to shut tightly. After a moment I pried them open to literally see my best friend on fire.

The flames curled around his fingertips, shooting out of his palms and rising up from the bottoms of his feet. They snaked their way around his legs and up along his bare torso. His eyes seemed to be glowing, and even though his hair appeared to be aflame not a single hair looked singed.

Clara screamed, Andrew looked like he was going to pass out, or he did, and I immediately ducked behind the large rock. The glow coming from Justin lit up the entire area around us, and it shined far brighter than the stars that led our way before.

Justin looked down, saw himself and panicked. Flames shot off of him and landed in patches of snow, melting it before sizzling out into nothing. The flames grew larger, until it looked like a raging bonfire that you would see at a high school's homecoming. It reached the tops of the trees that spotted the distance and flew out even further from his arms and legs until you could no longer see Justin, but a flaming ball with a humanoid shape in his place.
