I got my bag and headed out to work. Jay said he'd meet me there as I didn't mind walking so I went outside with my iced tea and began my slow walk to work.
"Erin where are you going?"
"Oh hello!" I laughed turning round. Gabby hugged me and smiled.
"On your way to work?"
"Yep. You?"
"Same. We can walk together if you want?" She smiled.
"Let's go." I laughed. We took a walk together discussing my honeymoon and stuff since we hadn't seen each other since the wedding which was like 2 months ago. She left me at the firehouse and I carried on until I arrived at work. I got in and sat down. Jay wasn't actually in yet and it was actually peaceful in the office for the first time ever.
"Where's Jay sweetheart?" Hank smiled coming out and kissing my head.
"I don't know. He left about 45 minutes ago?" I smiled.
"You haven't heard from him?"
"No actually. He was wearing his police badge and had all his stuff though."
"Right okay. I don't know what could of happened then?"
"Maybe traffic so bad?"
"No Erin. Come on now. You've just walked. The traffic was fine. Where else could he of gone?"
"Well I don't know. I guess I'll ring him." I smiled. I stood up and rung him and he didn't answer me. "Mouse can you please check where his phone is coming from please?" I gave him Jay's number and let him get on with it. Hank pulled me up into his office and I smiled as we were watching Mouse.
"Erin are you okay?"
"What do you mean?"
"You look a bit peaky and stuff."
"I'm good. Probably just tired, I feel exhausted, but basically I'm a bit worried about Jay now."
"Can we talk about something to begin with?" He smiled.
"What's wrong then?" I smiled.
"Erin listen to me carefully. Open this and please just check it and read through it." I opened the brown paper envelope and it was a paternity test I read through it and there were 2 names on it and one was positive. I looked at Hank slightly confused.
"Can we explain this together please? Who are the 2 people. So your telling me one of these is my dad."
"Yes so this one here is your old step dad okay?" He smiled.
"Oh right okay. So he is no relation to me whatsoever?"
"He isn't a relationship no. But this one is."
"Who is this one?" I smiled putting the paperwork back in the envelope as he handed me another one. "Dear Hank Voight, the results of the paternity test have come through positive. You are the biological father of Erin Lindsay."
"Oh my god. Hank." I laughed tearfully.
"Hello daughter." He laughed pulling me into a hug. He kissed my head again then Mouse called us out. He showed us the phone was in some old warehouse and it was on so why the hell was Jay in this warehouse the other side of Chicago.
"I'm sorry for taking lead but we're treating this as a kidnapping." Hank sighed. "We need to investigate if any gangs or anyone use that specific factory for any drug related stuff or anything. Gregg work on it." I just sat at my desk dealing with all the heartache I was feeling right now. I tried calling him again.
